I'm talking about the University of Michigan. The students refused to continue to be a mediocre football program, and after the debacle of the Rich Rod experiment three years ago, and now the slop job Brady Hoke is doing, the students wised up. They focused their attention strictly on the AD, Dave Brandon, seeing that he was the true problem of their football program. Due to the heat he received from several poor decisions he made, he was forced to resign.

We can continue to fly all the banners we want, but our Admin needs to feel the heat to make changes within, as well. Blake James does not have the balls to make changes, and as long as he is here, we, too, will continue to be mediocre. He's only been here since 2013, but most new AD's like to clean things up to make a name for themselves when they see things going array; you know, create their own legacy...he's appears, on the otherhand, to be very content with how things are panning out and so does this admin.

To say fans and the student body do not have a voice in decision making is asinine. Michigan students boycotted games, forcing Michigan to lower ticket prices to salvage some sort of earning. The Alumni refused to donate unless changes were made. The students went to protest, publicly, garnishing national media attention. They forced the Admin's hand to make changes. We, too, need to take that approach. We're losing the recruiting battle in our own backyard...FSU is becoming Miami North. We're losing national respect as a brand. This is not a Golden issue, this is an Admin issue. From Coker, to Shannon, now to Golden, our Admin is the one that's failed us. Our "banners" need to be focused on them, not Golden.

#canesfam is content with 8 or 9 wins as long as they try hard and graduate.

Voices have to be heard. You hit them where it hurts. Money! Don't renew season tickets. Don't give to the Hurricane Club. Yes, I understand that it effects the program but you have to make sacrifices. You stay status quo and you die...

Our students don't care that much. That is the real problem. It honestly angers me.

I don't get it....when the athletic dept. is humming, college life is that much better.

Oh trust me, I understand that!

The funniest thing is that the school prides itself on admissions and academics. During my 4 years here, the largest incoming Freshman class was the class of 2017. They are sophomores now. Anyone think it's a coincidence that the year our basketball team did really well and was receiving a lot of attention is the same year more kids chose to go to UM than compared to years past? Nope. Not at all. Remember those kids had to apply and make their decisions during the year our basketball team was really good so I'm sure a lot of kids took notice to us because of that.

What does Michigan know about being an elite academic institution though? I mean, it's not like they dwarf us in terms of academic prowess yet still really try to put an elite product on the field......oh wait.

Wow now, great comparison Miami and Michigan . . . dramatically different student body and alumni size, as well as 100,000- seat stadium that is full most Saturday - though not as much lately. ****, if Miami students or fans stay away it's not eye-opening, not much different than a typical Saturday.

couldn't have said it any better. sometimes to take 5 steps forward, you MUST take one step back. we have to be willing to take one step back to correct this crap. We're putting band aids on a leaking dam right now. we're this close to falling into obscurity if nothing changes.

weak mentality you just showed and you missed the whole point. it has nothing to do w/ a student base of 100k, or 50k or 5k...the U is a national brand. we have put more players in the NFL since 2000 than ANYONE. we have a very prominent alumni base. we EASILY garnish national media attention b/c we are the U. if our attention was focused on the admin instead of golden, it will gain enormous steam regardless of how big our student body is in comparison. the point was the students at michigan took matters into their own hand. the alumni and donors took matters into their own hand. crappy statements like the one you just made perpetuates the situation b/c you can make excuses as to why nothing is happening, self defeating the purpose.

Dude, exactly!!!! I live in Los Angeles, and i was in school at the same time USC was hot. EVERY kid wanted to go to USC. I used to date this girl from USC and every girl in her dorm room was hot...and they would brag about how they came to USC for the education and b/c they were the most talked about school in the nation. I used to love vistiting her on campus b/c it was popping b/c the football program was popping. nowadays...ehhh, not so much.

Same thing happens at Florida when they were winning in basketball and football.

Seriously?

Class of 2017 means the class that will graduate in 2017.

Smh.

I truly believe that the only way Al is gone is if Blake is gone too. The best we are going to do is have a new D cord if Blake is still here

Not going to be politically correct but I'd venture to say our current student body cares more about issues in China, South America and portions of Europe than collegiate athletics. It's moot though as student attendance really only matters in basketball for us. And even that's freakin' sad as I've been to games at The BUC against teams like Carolina and have students outside ask me what's going on in there.
