UM student newspaper: Give Al Golden a second chance

Georgia Tech hated Paul Johnson. He was 7-7 in 2012 and 7-6 in 2013. Tech fans wanted to lynch him but not with the same vitriol here. Last year he had his pieces in place and put up 11-3 record. just shows that anything is possible.

No. Anything is not possible. Al Golden winning a national championship is not possible.

Paul Johnson also went 9-4 and 10-3 in prior season. In addition they won the coastal twice and won the whole acc once under Johnson.

But forget all that and take a look at this. Here are the recruiting rankings for GT for the last 5 years:

2011 44
2012 52
2013 76
2014 56
2015 44

Look at that. When Johnson goes 7-6, well his team is really playing to their talent level. When he goes 10-3 and wins the acc, he's doing more with less. A lot more with less.

Now let's look at Miami.

2011 33
2012 10
2013 14
2014 12
2015 27

Look at that! Why are we not a top 20 team? We're not even close. Based on those rankings, when Miami goes 6-7 or 7-6 or 8-5 or whatever Al goes every god**** miserable year, we're underachieving. Al is doing less with more. And when Al gets a super easy schedule and lucks into 9-4, he's approaching a record that reflects our talent level. Al Golden and Paul Johnson are complete opposites.

ACC's leading passer
Butkus runner-up
Mackey runner-up
Doak Walker semifinalist
Biletnikoff candidate
7 draft picks (5 in the first 3 rounds, plus undrafted Gunter who's been playing very well for GB)

And went 6-7.

11-3 is the best record he's ever posted in 14 ******* years at GT! Combined with tons of 6-7-8 win seasons. Fvck that schit. I don't want any part of that kind of "success".

If 11 wins is the pinnacle of success then why even try?

Miami bout that #ringlyfe ! Meat me in the blue lot #12 !
Has it really been 14 years? just wow. Seems like it couldn't be more than 5 or 6 years.

As far as the article goes, it had to be written by a freshman who didn't watch last season. Nobody but nobody who saw last season, saw what happened with the draft, and saw our recruiting class would say he deserves a second chance. If he couldn't win with good recruiting classes, how is he going to win with mediocre recruiting classes. If he drops the ball again this season like we all think he will, we will be looking at another mediocre recruiting class. He's not over coaching, he's under coaching, and as the recruiting drops things will only get worse. As long as Gorlden stays at Miami we will see new floors in performance. We've seen a sample of what he's capable of and it ain't good. He's got the year, even his most die hard supporters will have to see the light. There are no more excuses.

How dare you bring up logical facts and statistics to back it up. The Goldenites hate that ish.

I love the strawman argument that this is no longer a time when we can compete for national titles every year. It's not even close to every year. We haven't even competed for the top 25 in a decade. Also, it's compłete bull****, bc there are several well-coached programs that are in the national title discussion yearly.

Can't blame the students really. The students now we're between 4 and 10 years old the last time we won a title.

Dear UM Newspaper,

**** you!

Sincerely,
University of Miami Fans

Guess what folks, young skulls full of mush carry even less weight then Internet porsters. Is there a college campus that's not restricted to politically correct propaganda?

Remember that "diversity" does not include diversity of thought.

The one thing that truly has remained consistent on the campus of the University of Miami is our high school level student newspaper- and that's an insult to many high school publications.
