UM skews their attendance numbers

Golden is trying to pump the numbers up as competing schools are using the images that are above against us in recruiting. Al has the school by the balls so much that they are going with this lackluster attempt to try to convince recruits that we have 55,000 people at games with the pic above. The ultimate con artist

Really? Now Golden is in control of attendance announcements. You guys love making stuff up.

They count people in the stadium not just in their seats so people on the club level and suites who are inside count as well. An there a lot of those.

Go Canes

I'm one of the guys at the bar on club level. I generally get ****ed at Golden before the end of the first quarter and go in to watch other games. At the OB, I could go get in Coker's ear. Not now. The images of No Life are deceiving. There are a lot of people inside.

The NCAA has rules regarding calculating attendance. Universities are allowed to use the number of tickets sold in their attendance numbers, as long as those tickets were not given away or sold at a large discount. Students are counted differently, and how they are counted depends on whether they pay to go for the most part. The university also has to audit its attendance numbers.

I've posted the attendance rules before, so I'm not going to do that.

To see how this works in practice, you can click this link: https://oia.fiu.edu/pdf/Certified A...ate Athletic Association Operating Bylaws.pdf

every sports team does this. professional, minor league , college, national teams, everyone pumps up attendance somehow. This is a non issue.

While that may be true, I don't know that anyone is as blatant about it as we are. Whatever the reported numbers were last year, divide by two at the very least.

I can't stand the fudging of numbers these days. It used to be cool knowing how many were there when you went to a game, but forget about that anymore. The eyes don't lie.

I think those numbers are real just misleading. No, I dont no think 50,000 were there for Cincy game, but I dont doubt one bit 50,000 tickets were SOLD to the game and I believe for this, thats all that matters

The only way those attendance numbers are accurate is if they're aggregating another 10-15 people per pound that Golden and Onfrio are carrying.

you really don't think that he has an influence on stuff like that to help his recruiting?

No, he doesn't. Attendance numbers are announced day of the game based on tickets sold (even if the person is not there) and other people in attendance such as press, etc. A head coach does not sit down and tinker with attendance numbers at any school.

you can bet that he is influencing whoever is announcing those bogus numbers to announce it that high. he knows that other schools negatively recruit against our attendance and his comeback is showing those recruits the "official attendance numbers" game by game to try and convince them that we draw more than we actually do.

Every school except those that sell out skew their attendance numbers. It's silly to try to blame Golden for every thing you don't like.

no arguement that schools jack the numbers up but does any school do it to the magnitude that Miami does?

I've heard fans from many other schools making similar claims of inflation by pretty high percentages.
