UM-Duke Opening Line

Vegas doesn't pick winners. They don't pick losers or the score. They are never wrong and always win.

Lines are set to get people to bet. That's it. that's all. And they have virtually perfected it.

If spread is large then they are trying to get people to bet the other side. That's all it means.

You all are focusing on the spread and I'm looking at the over/under of 61 and think that's crazy high for these two teams

Agree. It’s a actually a good matchup for us, one of the better ones. Suspect secondary versus our pass heavy offense. They run the ball and we stop it but then again nothing makes sense this year.

470 yards of offense & we lost, I’m not so sure I would define that as “keeping them in check”...

We’re the only team they have played this season that held them below 30 points. That’s keeping them in check. We should have won that game, but we decided to continue to invent new ways to lose.

UNC averages 42 points per game and that was Duke’s rivalry game like FSU is to us. I think Duke played better than what they are but they are still dangerous and our offense can’t score points. That’s my main concern.

UNC also averages over 500 yards a game.

Our Defense held its own in the 2nd half of that game. Hopefully, next season, we have both sides clicking.

Carolina/Duke in football is not a rivalry in any real sense of the word. Yes they play for a trophy, but UNC cares more about long tenured series vs Wake and UVA than Duke. Their FSU-like rival in football is NC St and I’d even argue Miami is now 1B bc of the Coastal battle.

Duke does not have a football rival. They claim it’s Carolina but nobody cares about that football program. There has to be care on both sides of the coin for it to be serious.
 
Duke's wins are against 2-4 Temple, 1-5 NW, 2-4 UVA, and 3-3 NCA&T
Duke's losses are against 3-3 GT (by 3 in OT), 6-1 UNC (by 3), 5-2 Kansas (by 8)

I'd expect a close game based on Duke's current results and Miami's inability to put anyone away.

CAME RUNNING INTO SAY THIS...NO ONE GIVES ABOUT DUKE FOOTBALL THEY DONT HAVE A RIVAL.

NC STATE IS THEIR FOOTBALL RIVAL(unc). This is coming from me whos dad went to college in raleigh and i went for 2 years. Duke football even when good is almost non existent in the triangle.

My high school teammate son is committed to Duke as a db in this class im happy for him for picking them though. I want to r un it up on them this year....There new coach seems pretty good though and i hated see Cutcliffe ugly *** mug lol

Prime time game against your “rival,” you have your best team in years, a win could get you to the top of the Coastal, and there wasn’t even traffic in Durham Saturday night. That game didn’t even lead the local news sports spot lmao. Not a single soul cares.

What school we’re you at for 2 years?

My apologies. I somehow forgot about NC State.

I understand the rivalry is bigger in basketball of course but it seemed like that was a rivalry game this past Saturday based on the way it was played.

Maybe it’s more of a rivalry to Duke since they really don’t have rivals but I will defer to your judgement.

You aren’t really wrong it technically is a rivalry game. It’s just a real strange ordeal in this area. Duke could be playing for a national title and they’d have 43 fans there. All while UNC and State fans would probably not even know Duke made it there. It would be the last segment on local news sports report, after they covered the triangle schools basketball games against OOC nobody opponents lmao.
