UM commit Ford excited about "D-Line brother" Johnson

It depends on the recruiting site. Scout has had him as a 4-star since last year. He's also ranked about the #13 DT on that site...

Man how does Ford not have 4 stars? I really hope a lot of our 3 star guys get the bump they deserve in the rankings. Especially Ford, Dingle, Edwards, Steed. Those are all 4 star players
Yeah but nobody gives af about Scout

Everyone has his point of view....

I'm not aware of one site being "better" than the rest - and I've been around far, far longer than any of these have been in existence.

In this case, Scout may have it right with Ford....

"I'll be a 3-technique. I'm going to get to the quarterback as soon as possible -- no sitting on the line or reading. I'll be interrupting the quarterback and getting into the backfield and celebrating like the old U."

Amen.

Speaking of two stars....Wanna guess what Ed Reed And Ray Lewis were out of high school...Most of the time those star ratings work, sometimes you get Tracey Howard or ( jury still out on Chad Thomas ).

Ford was a 4 star on espn and 247 but for whatever reason they dropped him.

Too solid to UM. Too quiet about his recruitment. Never fails.

That and the fact the Miami fanbase is less likely to purchase subscriptions to recruiting service websites when we have our guy Ariz bringing us the news for free and breaking stories first.

Ariz is the Man!

Go Canes

One of the first commitments to Miami's 2017 recruiting class was south Florida product Jonathan Ford, a 6-5, 270- pound defensive lineman.
When Coach Kool introduced me to him, I thought he was already a player at Miami and I didn't realize he was still in high school. He's actually a little bigger than me, so it's exciting to know I'll have someone that size right next to me and he's very athletic. We are going to have great chemistry."

Stupid question is Johnson going to be moved to DL too? He is bigger than Ford at 270? I dont know thats why im asking whats their plans with these two? DT or DL or is Johinson staying at DE

Kool is exactly who I thought he was. He might not be a slick salesman type recruiter, but he's the kind of guy that smart hungry kids want to play for because they know he'll get them paid huge. This is the first coach we've had in awhile where recruits at his position are constantly mentioning his coaching acumen as a reason for their interest.

The best position coach I can remember us ever hiring. Kool could have coached ANYWHERE he wanted, which makes me think he's could be here long term.

I can't believe people still spew this retarded bull****. As if it makes any god damned sense to appease a single fan base, rather than have the reputation of being the most accurate and appease every fan base.

That fat guy currently residing in Detroit had to of put a korran-esque censorship on all kids involved with miami. The amount of old school cane mentality in these kids' interviews lately is staggering

You do know that some people bet on recruiting rankings right? That's all I will say

Hey Pete, surprised you didnt ask him what his boy Jordan Wright is smokin thinking he can get a big time D1 scholie playing bball! His lottery ticket is the football field! He good in basketball but as we all know..you gotta be great to get a big time school to offer you. Hope he changes his tune before its too late.

I remember going to a Dillard game last year and seeing that Dillard Dline absolutely look like animals. I was like, "Who the **** are these guys!" Found out later on it was Ford, Wright, Aaron Thompson and another D1 kid they got this year I believe. They were wrecking havoc! Really excited about Ford and hope he can change his boy JWrights mind.

they have 4 div 1 dlineman again this year. Have a tall bball kid not wright..skinny as **** but about 6'5-6'6 with offers and very active.
Saw Ford in the spring game..he didnt make much plays. i caught 3 quarters though...n they said he made some plays in the first quarter..i think he caused a turnover. He was lined up against a div 1 ol from miramar though. Ford is big with a nice frame to add weight...think of a Darnell Dockett type at dt..or a Less athletic Denzel NKEMDICHE

Agree 100%! Kool is a savage that is attracting like minded savages. His track record speaks for itself.

Obviously, the system is rigged.

You're talking about that kid Zayas. I agree with you Prop Joe, he's definitely a Plan B-C kid behind a guy like Wright but he looks like a guy who ends up at a mid to lower-tier P5 school or a Group of 5 power, develops & tears **** up and finds himself in the early round discussion when he turns pro. One of those guys that you see producing on the next levels and you're like "He's from SFL too, WTF!!! It's gotta be something in the water down here". Dillard had some down years but that D-Line is looking like they used to back when I was in high school.

I hope they don't get a 4th star and come in hungry. Yes, 5 Star kids have better measurables than 3 star kids most of the time. And most of the time I would recruit a 5 star kid over a 3 star kid. But at the end of the day as a coaching staff you have to recruit the best kid who is likely to make plays in college and not be stuck in high school mode.

And I too believe that these recruiting sites raise star values if top SEC schools are on a kid more than if a lower ACC school is on the same kid. I don't know that it is political though. I think the recruiting sites have so many kids in the database and if a top SEC school who knows what talent looks like is on a kid they are going to trust that over their own evaluations. And I don't know how you can really evaluate the top 10 DE's in all of high school over the next top 10-20 DE's. How are they really ranking them 1-30? They can't really go out and see the kid ranked 137th top DE in the country. But if Nebraska, OU, OSU, Texas, and TCU all of a sudden are offering a DE from Topeka KANSAS then yes I am sure these recruiting services are going to move this kid sight unseen to the 66th spot so to speak. All of a sudden the word is the kid did great at a Nike camp and now Bama, LSU, USC all want this kid. He will move into the top 20 and they still have not seen him. Now if the kid then commits to KSU I can see the services not feeling the need to watch him more and maybe put him in the top 10 DE even though he might deserve it. It is just not part of their business. These services are not doing this for free. It is a service meant to make money any way they can. And throughout all their misses and all of their over hyped Bama 4-5 star kids Bama has still won titles and won recruiting titles to the effect that we all keep going back to the flawed system.

Until there is a service that can watch all kids and rate them vs every other kid in all 50 states we have what we have. And I still take Edwards over most all 5 stars because I believe with the stuff he has to work with and Rumph coaching him and the 's that we are going to have this kid will have a much better career than Tracy Howard. I don't know that Tracy Howard had a chance in the environment he was in. I think the kid came in thinking he did not have to work and by the time his number was truly called up our DL's could not help out. This is a team game and nobody will do well without help.

On another note, I was wondering the same thing about DJ and playing DT. His base is very wide and it will be interesting to see how he develops. I am sure we have told him DE all the way. And if this kid gets up to 290 and is still quick then we have Reggie White on our hands. Now if he is not then maybe we have Russell Marylend on our hands. It is amazing how kids every year will fight their true position. I still remember how Eric Winston tried to starve himself trying to keep weight off so he could stay at TE. Finally he started eating and let himself have a long lasting NFL career at OT. I am of the mind set that you try every kid at DE until reality sets in and move them to DT. Same with DB's who think they are corners. Every kid is tried there until they prove they really are a safety or even an LB.

Yeah he's the biggest name in college football as far as the coaching names on the dline goes . Only one in comparison is Ed Oregeron who is a better recruiter and a good coach. However kulogowski is a better overall coach than Oregeron and a solid recruiter

Ed Oregeron coached at Miami when Sapp was at Miami.
