So the opportunity came regardless how it came. He took it, stumbled as a HC and now he's forged his way to a high-paid assistant......and people are hating on him. I don't understand.

I’ve re-watched plenty those 2000-02 games several times and the commentators themselves stated it several times.
“This Miami defense isn’t that complicated. They basically run a base scheme and just beat everyone cause they’re better at every position”

Stumbled??.....More like falling down a Flight of Stairs that'd make US1 look like 1/2 a Block....

He stumbled … badly. But it's good that he landed on his feet. Can't blame him that our crack Athletic department set the standard of inept HC searches.

It's not the first time someone accepted a promotion they weren't ready for. I doubt if many on this board would refuse a similar promotion in their respective fields.

You can't solely blame the Athletic Dept on Onions mess ups...He is just as much to blame.....

For me I always wanted that job to either go to Chuck or baby Stoops. I think it would've been nasty what they would've accomplished with us in that role. While onions my people and always will be I don't understand people thinking he doesn't deserve any of the animosity. Absolutely he should've never been more than a DC. I agree on shalalalalala role in that(once we stopped Alvarez from coming)but the job he did,the people he sabotaged intentionally and the bridges he burned locally and nationally were still trying to repair and he deserves to be called out for that...

As you already know....I knew you were aware of the situation....I still Chuckle at the people who think he didn't mess up the Willie Williams situation....If WW would have been at UM from 98-2000...Butch would've made him an AA in no time.....

If Willie would've played for Jimmy or Butch he may be considered one of the best college backers ever. But I'm sure people with think I been drinking or some dumb ****.

1st time I met him was at the 2005 UM Pro Day...sat on the circular planter (no longer there) in front of HOF talking for 1/2 an hr...I was certain he'd be an AA....Looked like an NFL player at 19yrs old.....Nicest kid....Still bugs tf outta me...

Of course he's hated.

We're all 'Canes and all FAMILY and want every single person on the football staff to be a football alum but if they don't succeed they can burn in **** because they didn't do enough for some guy that lives in North Carolina, became a fan in 2004 and bought a 'Canes hat that one time.
