UGAy fans LFAO at us for extending CMR

What trap? The one where he took a perennial 6 win team and made them one of the winningest programs in college football? I understand some of the shine had come off the Richt/ UGA relationship but let's not make it seem like Georgia was some kind of powerhouse before he got there. Outside of their 1980 (lol) championship, What had UGA football actually accomplished before Mark Richt took the job?

Actually UGA was doing better than just averaging 6 wins per season. Donnan was averaging 8 wins his 5 years before Richt arrived. But I get your pont

I like CMR. Clearly better than Goldy and Radio. UGAy friends keep busting me that we're falling into the same trap they did for almost two decades.

Same trap as they did??? :laughing-1: That's hilarious!!

Kirby went far with Richt's seniors and even though I was pulling for UGA against Bama....I must admit that it took a special kind of idiot to have lost that game.

I like our chances with Richt going forward....I hope they like their's with Smart .

IMO in truth, Richt did need change of scenery. I'm glad he's getting it here.

As UGA fans will find out , there are some things you just can't fix

lets see how good kirby smart is without the brinks truck pulling up to every recruits house
He's still going to have to coach them up. Not every player that is brought in with bags ends up contributing. I believe Smart did better with Richt's players than he will with his own bagged players.

I’ll wait until Georgia actually wins something before anointing them or Smart as the new anything.

Seriously. At least leave it to their own fan base. I usually love to rip on the extreme homer-ism fan bases of teams like OSU and SEC show bc at times it is just downright pathetic. But man, we really could use some of it sometimes.

The difference between UGA and Miami's current position and future outlook is very minimal at the moment. But if you look at fans and message boards of each team it does not appear that way. "UGA is the new bama and we will still never win a ship" WTF smh

I do know Richt publicly said he was suspicious of UNC reading our play calls. This was the first time I ever saw Miami sidelines put up a screen during play calling. I don't know what tipped off Richt, but he's been doing this too long to be wrong about that. Mark Richt doesn't cry wolf that often...
**** didn't know that thanks man

Mark Richt deserved an extension at Miami more than Kirby Smart did at UGA and gtfoh if you think otherwise groupies

Go back to Christmas 2015, Miami announces Kirby as it's new head coach.
Oh,, Bama coordinator.
Anybody's toes tingling?..

Like I said before, the harsh reality is we got the best bang for a buck with Richt. If we ever decide to pony up more $ for a coach then we can have these types of discussions. But if it weren't for Richt, we'd be back with a ****** Schiano type coach.

I'm all in on Richt and hope he can get us over the hurdle... at least were relevant again and will be a more attractive coaching destination in the future.
Agree 100% with this

They are laughing at us for getting a coach that couldnt get them over the hump while their coach so far hasnt got them over the hump.

Irony.

I'm not a UGA fan by any means but playing in the championship game is "over the hump" in my book. I believe Richt accomplished that 0 times while at UGA, Smart did it in year 2. Would Richt have made it to the title game if he had remained coach in year 17? Unfortunately I don't think so - 15 years is a pretty good amount of time to build a body of evidence.

They may have to wait another 17 years for another “over the hump” experience. Let’s see how Kurby performs these next few years with his recruits.

Fair enough. I'm not saying Richt is incapable of winning a chip. I just think that a HC has to take chances because teams are so evenly talented (look at Saban - I can think of several times he nutted up and gambled in championship games from onside kicks to pulling his qb early). As he is now, Richt is a disciplined coach who doesn't deviate from what he thinks works. I want him to take some chances like rolling with a frosh over a mediocre qb who he is comfortable with.

Congrats my point stands.

Agreed.

It's ok in private, but CMR tweeting for UGA last year was some little **** ****.

I don't see Saban tweeting good luck to Michigan State or Urban Meyer saying good luck to Utah/UFag.

They're focused on championships. CMR is focused on that, but also using his bandwidth on this pointless moral crusade that does not translate into Ws sometimes.

I don’t know.

Did you forget about that onsides kick to start the 2nd half of the GT game?

I was ready to run down on the field and read him the riot act when he tried that.

It was a bad call, imo.

It let GT back in the game, I think we cruise comfortably if he doesn’t call that.

I haven’t forgotten about it. I spent most of the second half bltching about it.

With 33 of Richt's seniors.

Maybe he can use this extension money to get unlimited texting, this way your concern about how he uses his data will be alleviated.

To say he is somehow less focused on championships because he takes a few minutes to congratulate a player he recruited and coached for getting drafted or says a kind word about anything having to do with UGA says more about you than him.
