I don't even remember what I said about you in the past, but it was probably calling you out for some moronic comment. You porst stupid schit and I see it. I'm going to comment about it.

I'm not saying that Jones won, but I don't feel Reyes did anything to take the fight either. He didn't maintain aggression, he backed off & ran laps around the octagon.

I just think neither one of them did anything to beat the other definitively.

Hey Liberty you sound like you train. If you do who under? I am a Black Belt under Marcello Pereria out of the Naples, Ft. Myers area. He is a multi times BJJ world champion. It only took 10 plus hard fought years to get there plus 5 years of wrestling. I wouldn't trade the journey or the relationships and friends for anything.

I forget who the color commentator was during UFC 239 (might have been Paul Felder, but don't quote me)...but said Jon Jones has just been "playing with his food" for a while now. Seems disinterested and borderline bored.

I used to be into UFC big time in the 2000s when there was Couture, Iceman, Tito, Spiderman, Penn, Hughes, St Pierre. There was still Henderson, Wanderlei, Nogueira, Shamrock, Rampage and others towards the end of their careers. And when Brock Lesnar came in I thought it made for some interesting hype in the heavyweight division for a little bit.

There were a few guys that came out of the upstate NY area where I live, but eventually a guy named Jon Jones was training in Ithaca and went to UE high school where I grew up in the Binghamton area. It was awesome watching him come up the ranks and eventually win the title (I think one title fight he actually helped take down a purse snatcher or something the afternoon before his match!). He seemed like a really good dude. Then he started acting like Jarren (probably got mixed up in wrong crowd with all the game and fortune). When he got suspended the first time I started to lose interest and the cards were terrible with not many big names left and mostly hug fests.

I like to follow how Bones is doing and stay up to date thanks to El! But UFC just doesn’t seem to be as interesting and fun as it was back then

The personalities may not be there like they were around UFC 100 (although, guys like Connor, Masvidal, the Diaz brothers, etc have carved out their own niche as personality forward talents). However, the talent today is exponentially better. Masters of the craft.

You're basically in an era where the "best ever in X weight class" is pretty much the norm. Only GSP, Spider and maybe prime Fedor would get recognized among the greats of today.

Yeah, GSP and spider were pound for pound best at the time until Bones took over.

But the rivalries were what kept me really into it for the years I watched (Hughes/GSP, Iceman/Tito, etc). I’m sure the fighters are better now as u mentioned (which happens in every sport as the years of advances takes shape). But what kind of rivalries are in the UFC to keep it interesting? And I don’t count Diaz vs anyone as a rival since him and his brother were doing the same obnoxious stuff when they were younger when I watched
 
Given how even the bout was, I said to a buddy of mine at the bar that they'd both be going for it in 5. They didn't.

Your post reminded me how I am old. I still remember Liston v Clay on the Beach. My dad had ticket but want to go. I had to take the bus, three I think, to get there but it was one of only two boxing matches I ever attended. About 15 years latter I dropped 10K on ringside seats for myself and some big clients to Homes v Ali in Vegas. No bus that time. Flew private G2. Strange book ends to my boxing fandom.

I did not like Clay at the time of the first fight and never like draft dodgers but when he took it to court and went to jail instead of running to Canada it flipped me to his side. I respected him because fought for what he believed and did it the right way. That last fight cost me a ton of cash but I was blessed with a 30 second chance to say hello and shake his hand(I got one of his people and told them I was at that first fight and took the bus). I was hoping for a drink or dinner but happy to shake his hand.

We just waiting for THE RUSSIAN TANK Abdulrashid Sadulaev to take his throne, brother. He's currently fighting oppression in Dagastan and when he's done with that, he's comin.
 
10 point must system means Reyes won the fight. He won the first 3 rounds without question. Jones definitely won 4 and 5, but Reyes was robbed period. Just like Alexander Gustafson was robbed in his first fight with Jones.

My background is in JKD, Taekwondo & Muay Thai, been doing it since 6 years old, first began my training under Ajarn Dwight Woods who was taught by Dan Inosanto.

I'm just a purple belt in BJJ only been training in it for 4 & half years now.

I could tell by the way you were breaking down the fights that you had a pretty high level of knowledge of the MMA fight game. I have trained with one of the UFC fighters out of my area since he started about 10 years ago. We also take Clay Guida out fishing quite often. Muay Thai since you were six wow, I know you have many leg contusions and bruises to show for it. Muay Thai will beat you down over time.

You are welcome. George Foreman will always be my favorite boxer but as years went by I liked Ali more and more -- he was kind of what Canes became. Against my guy, George, he just stood that and said "give me all you got big guy. Oh are you tired. Now let me show you how this is done"

My father was a huge Ali fan. Being an Army man, his journey as a fan of his took time like yours did. But I grew up listening to my old man tell me stories about Ali, both his fights and his antics. Of any athlete in any sport, the one I regret not being old enough to experience first hand the most is Muhammad Ali.

Yeah, once you get over the politics and stuff, he was a fantastic, maybe the best, show in and out of the ring. I voted for his daughter on Dancing with the Stars in his honor and ended up liking her too.
