UAB confirmed as non-conference game

Echoing the good tune up comments. I’m surprised Clark didn’t get offered a better gig after last year. Or maybe he’s happy there.
Might have worked out for him considering the obvious hurdles at a new program given the circumstances. Also makes me wonder how first year staffs in general will fare this season.

Clark LOVES UAB and the state of Alabama. He’s a super loyal guy is what I’ve been told (I know two kids who work for the school). He’ll make sure they’re stable and in no danger of dropping the program again before he leaves.

He also just signed an extension not too long ago, but when you’re that good of a coach it’s inevitable that you head for deeper pockets and greener pastures

Perfect test for us though. They won’t beat themselves and we need to learn to be more disciplined.

Perfect. Need a team that is going to force the players to stay sharp. Should be a win by at least 4 TDs, but if players come out lazy, UAB can make it sting.

This will be a good game for us, UAB is a good G5 team that is well coached & has a legit Defense.

We win going away (yeah I said it you weak kneed pussies), but Bill Clark is a good coach & they will be competitive.

Their QB was only a 59% passer & threw 15INT's to 17TD's, they also don't have a strong run game, so our DLine should control the pace of the game, bring heavy pressure up front, play Double High Safeties on the backend & force their inaccurate QB to throw the ball in the middle of the field.

Their best WR is Austin Watkins a Ft. Myers kid, he's good, but Alphonso Jr can lock him down.

EDGE Jordan Smith is a good pass rusher big 6'7 250lbs kid that plays similar to Jason Strowbridge from UNC.

They have 2 good corners, Brontae Harris (had 11PBU's in 2018) & Dy'Jonn Turner (had 10PBU's in 2019), they're physical corners who play bigger than their size (5'10 & 5'11), but can be beaten with speed on the outside. Harris sat out all of 2019 with a lisfranc injury.

The key to game for us offensively will be establishing the running attack up the middle to create one on one matchups on the outside in the passing game. Use King's running ability with some good Option & QB designed run plays, hit them with the quick inside Zone runs up the middle, go tempo & stretch the field deep with Wiggins, Pope & Redding, then when they rotate Safeties for over top help, work the intermediate routes with Brevin, Mallory & Hodges.

Good stuff, but aren't you sleeping on Jeremiah Payton?

Everyone knows Ive been touting Bill Clark for a couple of years and wanted him to get a look for the job when Manny was hired. I still think he would kill it here. Hopefully, Manny has a turnaround season, but dont sleep on UAB.
