Ty Simpson (has declared for the draft)

I am a firm believer in final year yards per attempt and total college starts being pretty good markers for a first round pick. There are outliers, but you've got to hit 25 starts (30+ is better) and 8.4ypa (over 9 is better). The first numbers only there to catch outliers.

I've crunched some numbers...

Ty Simpson would be one of the worst QB selections in the first round of the NFL Draft in at least 15 years.

7.5 yards per attempt
15 career starts

Anthony Richardson was 7.8ypa with 13 career college starts
EJ Manuel was 7.5ypa with 31 career college starts
Blaine Gabbert was 7.4ypa with 26 career college starts
Christian Ponder was 7.4ypa with 35 career college starts
Tim Tebow was 7.1ypa with 40 career college starts and a Heisman.

Mac Jones had 17 starts (but 11.2ypa), Trey Lance with 17 (with 9.7ypa), Mitch Lickin ****iezzz Trubisky with 13 starts (but 9.6ypa), Dwayne Haskins 14 starts (but 9.4ypa).

Great company.
He’s not a top 2 round pick imo. All the numbers that you mentioned plus only starting one year is a recipe for disaster. Unless he goes to Green Bay and sits for a couple seasons he’s gonna be a Mega Bust.

This whole bama legacy BS is so stupid. He’s not gonna be remembered by anyone at Bama. Let this Keelon Russell kid have some success next year and people will be happy that Simpson left.

The floor at Alabama is dropping with the talent level leaving and entering and I don't see a higher ceiling then 9 wins next year's.

Change that name to Missouri and you have comparable teams.

I absolutely respect his loyalty. And I absolutely appreciate him for turning us down. It will only have been worth it if he goes 1st round which I don’t think he does. But a kid like this could go in the 6th round and he will still come out and say, “I wouldn’t change my decision for anything. I love Bama and always will and I will prove myself in the NFL and prove every team that turned me down wrong”. Lol. They all read from the same script.

I think he knows deep down that he's not NFL material. This posturing is all to give himself a soft landing back in Alabama once he hangs up his cleats.
i mean his dad is the hc of an fcs program he has a soft landing spot regardless...but i dont get the "legacy" thing they arent remembering nothing from u homie and you accomplished nothing.

Someone posted the QBs that won Natty's under Saban the other day.

One of them was Jake Coker. To which I reply wtf is a Jake Coker.

Someone save this as a receipt.

You can put me down for the 2026 draft being the last time anyone thinks or hears about Ty Simpson.
