Two Years Ago

Isn't this upcoming senior class Golden's kids?

What have you seen from them (talent wise) that indicates a massive jump in potential?

Also, the schemes are not built for the talent down here. The DC is still here and regardless of what Golden says in a press conference, this is the same scheme in principle since he started.

Golden kids put together at the last minute.

So what is the bar here? 2015?

According to most on here, the 2012 class was stellar. They will all be in their third or fourth springs this year.

I just want to make sure I'm aiming right here since the goal posts here move as far or as near as the wind is blowing.

****, literally a third of that 2012 class of 33 kids are already no longer in the program. IMHO that's a contributing factor to the problems we are having, and an indictment of the CEO that he must address/change. Personally I hope Coley's eye for talent is helping to change the trend of class attrition that has appeared to have continued from the Randy Shannon days into Golden's tenure here.

Much of that loss isn't only because of poor talent that was disgarded but kids who couldn't keep their grades and an overall overemphasis on choir boy behavior.

Of the 11 kids no longer in the UM program from the 2012 signing class, which ones are making major contributions for another college football program right now?? We allow players to make mistakes off the field and keep their spots on the team. Just ask Rashawn Scott. How many chances are these kids supposed to get? IMHO it's not just a case of poor talent evaluation, but poor character evaluation. They aren't requiring kids to be choir boys. They just won't tolerate them ******** up again, and again, and again. And a kid that can't stop ******** up off the field won't learn any better on the field. Other schools are kicking out the **** ups too. They're winning because their talented kids are hard working, motivated, and give a **** about football.

FSU also invested money, lots of it, on their program. They completely changed their strength program, brought in a full time nutritionist, and use a sliding scale that allowed them to take would be Canes.

Kids who can't get in here, but can get into FSU/LSU/AU/LOU will naturally view Miami as an elitist school. Pete, you yourself said that's how we are often viewed. FSU started organizing its boosters and they played SEC ball in the recruiting game. They were pulling top 3 classes despite **** records and were beating Bama and UT and USC for elite national recruits.

You aren't winning a title running a straight laced program I'm sorry but this admin and the coaches they hire will never let us do things the way they need to be done.

All of the above has happened under Golden except the sliding scale (that we know of) Bash Golden if you want but you facts are wrong. We just built the Schwartz Center. We are raising $7 million for facility upgrades. Golden brought in a strength program. Golden brought in a nutritionist.

Unfortunately this isn't much and won't lead to much improvement in our standing. Middling programs like Washington and Arkansas are spending more than $7 million just on their coaching staffs.

bobby bowden was asked a few months ago which is more important between talent and good coaching. he said, talent all day long! i agree with this. we dont have talent and we DIDNT have any leadership either on the D or on the O.

and for those that are saying that Jimbo got outcoached, who called the fake punt that changed and ultimately won the game?

Winston could not have done it without that Defense. And let's be honest, we're years away from having a FSU type D.

Florida State goes 9-4 with losses to Oklahoma, Clemson, Wake Forest, and UVA.

Enter a freshman named QB Jameis Winston who redshirts his first year and goes on to have one of the greatest seasons of all time, leading his team to a National Title and winning the Heisman trophy.

2013 Miami Hurricanes went 9-4 this season with losses to Florida State, Louisville, VT, and Duke.

Enter a freshman QB named Brad Kaaya...

except FSU has been landing 5 star players on the DL like Jernigan, Edwards, Goldman, etc. Meanwhile our JUCOs can't get past admission. next

I was all about the Butch model, load up talent until my grandma can coach it..

But the fact of the matter is, this is a new college football world, it is very difficult to amass the type of talent and depth we have in the past, there is a lot more parody and players going elsewhere to play sooner, get more touches, etc..

This puts a premium on coaching..

Cowherd mentioned this today, the FSU and Auburn teams last night can be beat by another handful of teams in college football this year,,they're not an overwhelming juggernaut

FSU laughs at a 7 million dollar investment as does every other school in the top 25. Wake me when the legacy fund is for a stadium and is aimed at 50 million plus.

if miami could get enough ppl to donate 50 mill plus then it would set at that. were a small private school and don't have nowhere near the ant of alumni that most of the top 25 have. how much is ur donation?

Weren't we calling Olsen "Baby Jesus" last year and now we're doing the same thing with Kaaya before he even steps on campus. I've seen this movie before.

People think Butch just recruited a bunch of talent and that was it, but that's b.s. All of those kids knew how to prepare for games and execute the gameplan. They knew how to be in the right spots, they played hard and fast, etc. Our kids never look prepared. They don't play hard (probably because they don't believe in anything they are doing). They SUCK at executing--there is ALWAYS mistakes. And many times execution doesn't come down to talent, it comes down to preparation and technique. We have none of that. So Golden can get as much "talent" as he wants but that talent is mostly going to suck because we don't know how to get our talent to actually play football well at this level.

No QB can save us. Let's hope Kaaya is the truth and a real coach gets in here before he's wasted and broken.

OMFG. I SWEAR that was the same exact sh*t people were posting about Butch circa 98/99

Ken Dorsey is who helped take this from a good 9-2 type program, to MNC calibur. Just like Winston has been the difference maker for FSU. Sometimes you need thta ONE key guy that just makes everything click, and it makes all the difference in going from an 9-3 type program, to 12-0.

What an incredibly ignorant point of view.

Yup. **** that miserable defense he had.

I'm curious to see how many of these kids will contribute and make it to the NFL. The kids I'm referring to are the ones that were here after Randy was fired. It's one thing to have a kid be here and not contribute (Shields) and blow up in the NFL and it's another thing to be here and suck, and not even make it to the league.

Out of all the kids graduating this year how many do think will make it in the NFL?
