Two Years Ago

'99 Canes went 9-4....

The '99 Canes also had:

- improvement as the year progressed
- young talent starting to emerge everywhere, including a young RS Fr QB named Ken Dorsey
- I believe they won 4 straight at the end of the year...including the Gator Bowl

This team stumbled at the end, and that's not including the raping at the hands of Louisville.

This times 1000. Enough with the BS comparison's.

There is no upward trend.

This is a horrible comparison Pete, FSU had Stoops & now Pruitt real Defensive Coordinators, Miami has D'Noforio the worst DC in the ENTIRE country

Jimbo also built up that FSU D-line, Golden cannot recruit a real DT to save his life

FSU laughs at a 7 million dollar investment as does every other school in the top 25. Wake me when the legacy fund is for a stadium and is aimed at 50 million plus.

Some just can't help but be pessimistic and all doomsday about the program but what's the point of rooting for a team if you can't even see the potential? If Kaaya stays and Golden gets his players healthy and in place this team will be awesome in a couple of years.

Isn't this upcoming senior class Golden's kids?

What have you seen from them (talent wise) that indicates a massive jump in potential?

Also, the schemes are not built for the talent down here. The DC is still here and regardless of what Golden says in a press conference, this is the same scheme in principle since he started.

Golden kids put together at the last minute.

So what is the bar here? 2015?

According to most on here, the 2012 class was stellar. They will all be in their third or fourth springs this year.

I just want to make sure I'm aiming right here since the goal posts here move as far or as near as the wind is blowing.

****, literally a third of that 2012 class of 33 kids are already no longer in the program. IMHO that's a contributing factor to the problems we are having, and an indictment of the CEO that he must address/change. Personally I hope Coley's eye for talent is helping to change the trend of class attrition that has appeared to have continued from the Randy Shannon days into Golden's tenure here.

Much of that loss isn't only because of poor talent that was disgarded but kids who couldn't keep their grades and an overall overemphasis on choir boy behavior.

i don't think miami is that far away but without a doubt the most important thing is golden and co have to continue to recruit lights out, if you look at the teams miami lost to this year:

FSU - National Champions
Duke - Coastal champion
Louisville - one loss team with the nil top pick on their team
Vtech - always a decent team

Donna loves raising money, until it comes to spending $$ on football...then she claims broke

Florida State goes 9-4 with losses to Oklahoma, Clemson, Wake Forest, and UVA.

Enter a freshman named QB Jameis Winston who redshirts his first year and goes on to have one of the greatest seasons of all time, leading his team to a National Title and winning the Heisman trophy.

2013 Miami Hurricanes went 9-4 this season with losses to Florida State, Louisville, VT, and Duke.

Enter a freshman QB named Brad Kaaya...

Great!

Now if we could also change our defesive coordinator like FSU did during the summer.

FSU was lining up with this across the board on the DL:
Goldman, the national #2 DT when he came out.
Edwards, the national #1 DT when he came out.
Jernigan, tthe national #2 DT when he came out.
Jacobbi McDaniel, also the national #2 DT when he came out, rotated in heavily.

Anthony Moten will be the first 4 star DT we've signed since Luther Robinson in 2009, and Luther was the #18 DT.

QB is no doubt the most critical piece on the offense, but our DT failures on defense are absolutely brutal, especially with the style of defense we play.

This. And it's not just DL. Joyner, Jones, Darby, Ramsey - all top 5 guys at their position. We need an infusion of talent in a lot of spots.

In 2011 FSU lost to #1 Oklahoma 23-13
#21 Clemson 35-30
Wake Forest 35-30
UVA 14-13

The 99 Miami team only had one bad loss.

We got blown out by FSU, VT, Louisville, and Duke.

Stop with these crappy comparisons that have no context. These teams that you all keep mentioning were at least competitive against the good teams they faced. WE KEEP GETTING BLOWN OUT.

There is no dramatic turnaround happening under this staff. You don't go from getting blown out all the time, to becoming a good team especially when you are unwilling to change your staff and have poorly recruited your areas of need.

The talent level isn't anywhere near comparable. The Noles have been stacking up and recruiting at an elite level at EVERY position the past few years especially on defense. And now they are at a point where when they lose a first round pick (i.e Werner) there is someone just as good behind them (Edwards). They will lose Jones (M.Thomas), Jernigan (Goldman), Telvin Smith (Northrup) , etc. but the guys behind them will keep it moving.

Very depressing

I dont think anything else needs to be said here.

I just want to know what the goal is so that its not consistently moved around.

Another good post.

/And I thought this forum was dead.

LOL at this thread. Everyone here pointed out we are soooooo far behind FSU it ain't funny. The SEC and FSU/ Clemson laugh at our efforts and football program from top to bottom. We have nice facilities on campus but nothing stunning. Our stadium is atrocious and the requirements to get in work against out biggest and largest advantage, an absolutely unfair recruiting locale. The Admin doesn't care about football, so if you're in for the long haul, just realize the top out from this point forward is about 9 to 10 wind and moral victories against FSU. Jimbo is undefeated against us and his roster is stacked. Golden thinks our **** defense is trending up and our roster is Swiss cheese in many areas.

Yes Pete. Winston was the only thing that FSU changed from that season. Never mind stacking the rest of the roster three deep with 4-5 stars, specifically on the DL.

So cool, if Kayaa works out, we are better on offense. We still ain't winning anything that matters without a defense.
