Two things that bother me.... [A Manny Diaz Love Letter]

There are 2 things in the world that I can't stand. People that are intolerant to other cultures......and the Dutch!
Especially that dikk, Max Verstappen

1 is lack of fan support affecting team performance. Our major source of players is South Florida. I was raised in Broward county and attended many high school games where the band out numbered the number of fans yet I saw great talent perform, also empty Orange Bowl games when we were winning NC's. It would be nice to see the numbers we see for big games but don't blame poor play on fans. plus the fans we do have attend are intense and make small numbers sound like a full stadium.

2 is the stupid excuse that Mario found the cupboard bare. With few exceptions going into 2022 we had a load of talent with a Heisman candidate at QB a should be All American tight end with depth. What we needed most was at LB but from the portal we got more DL that are mediocre and OL that are also mediocre. Most of the recruits are ones that Manny had committed and Manny did a much better job getting portal players that stared for us.

Yes, Manny's first year his OC sucked and both years injuries were devastating. I am not defending Manny, simply pointing out that the excuses from many make here are not the reason we have had a bad year. I point at Gattis and Ponce wasting a Heisman candidate and this staff getting blown out losses to bad teams. JJ and Butch were great at getting top notch Assistants coaches and letting them coach many becoming NFL coaches. That is where Mario either screwed up or he is not letting them exploit the talent we already have because we do have talent. Which Mario recruit or portal players has been exceptional? Which Coach? Is it the assistants or the system? Preseason everything looked headed for an incredible season, great new coaches loads of talent...need I go on!
Which Manny coach was exceptional in year 1?
Butch fired his DC midway through a season. Bad hires happen.

Physical talent was not the issue on this team, although catching the ball and tackling were an issue that carried into this year.
Mental toughness and acclimating to Mario is clearly a problem.
Manny had transfers consistently out perform his recruits. That should tell you something.

TVD had the 8th best heisman odds + 3500 entering the season. CJ Stroud +200 B Young +430 so he was a long shot at best. Mallory is a mediocre TE. No where near an all american Did you watch the dumpster fire called FSU the last couple of years? They gave Norvell time. How about we give Mario the same 3 years we gave Manny. Then lets talk.

Funny thing is @fraggle started this thread and hasn't been on here since.

I think he loves chaos. Just starts little things like threads like this, only to log off.... never to be seen again, til another brilliant idea pops into his head.... just to do the same thing... well, makes sense... I mean if someone has to change your ****** diapers everyday, why not throw some of that **** on CIS and create chaos? I mean, you're a retired senior citizen, @fraggle you earned it.

1. Who said Tyler Van Dyke was ever a "Heisman candidate" except desperate fans and a media that loves to set Miami up to watch it fall? 7-5 season last year and the kid had a few big shootout games against sub-par teams. Van Dyke was never a Heisman candidate. He's a one-dimensional quarterback who hucked it up a ton last year in a pass-happy offense.

2. If there was so much "depth" how come Miami's offense went in the tank after losing a portal receiver (Rambo) and a reclamation project pass catcher (Harley) and is reliant on a JUCO transfer (Young) this year, while other kids are still growing into their role? Hardly the textbook definition of "reloading".

3. The Canes secondary is a complete abortion and Miami hasn't had quality linebackers since Pinckney and Quarterman left town. Again, this "cupboard full" narrative is laughable.

4. The running backs corps are a complete M.A.S.H. unit with Chaney and Citizen gone all season, Parrish banged up and Knighton not waking up until last week. Again, if you can't run the ball you won't have much of an offense.

5. Lastly, Country Club Manny was a cancer to this program and locker room. A negligent "cool older cousin" his liked-and-accepted, beta-like efforts were disgusting. Letting kids play on Saturday when milking mid-week injuries and skipping practice, starting a quarterback who missed curfew and operating from a place of fear where his best players received favoritism because he feared they'd bolt for the portal or go pro, there is a reason it took 2/3 of a season to flush out the old garbage ways of the past three years—and it's still not flushed out yet.

For sh*ts and grins let's compare year three for Diaz (2021) to year three for Cristobal (2024) and see how the two measure up. Until then, off Manolo and his lame-duck efforts to set the program back even further. Glad him and his little lame jewelry rode all the way to Slappy Valley in the offseason. Good riddance.

He does it every time. @RVACane pointed it out a long time ago and I've noticed it like clockwork ever since.

Straight facts.

You think the Columbus mafia was going to spend money on Diaz? They will buy Cristobal a better staff. The guy will get it right. Just more painfully than we want.
