Two Former NFL Head Corches With No Pride

Because they're two former NFL head coaches theoretically going to Bumblefuk to work for a guy that had a losing record in their previous profession. I mean Bill O'Brien was even a handful of games over .500 in the NFL whereas Sabag failed quickly and ran back to college.

Unless they actually are set on going back to college permanently then this would be a stupid career choice.

you’re making an insane argument because you’re blinded by emotion.

sabans record in the nfl is irrelevant to anyone with a brain and their ego in check. he’s quite obviously the beat college coach of his era and arguably the best ever. he runs an amazing organization. he has an amazing network. if you can’t see why learning from him and working with him isn’t an interesting option for a football coach, then you’re just not thinking clearly.

saban hasn’t hired anyone yet, and can’t without taking to them first.

additionally, his record of figuring out hiring and staff change is sufficiently good that its hard to see why you would venture to know what he should be doing at all.

I just delineate the NFL from college when assessing the blanket greatness that you're blindly assigning to Sabag.

Greatest college coach of all time? You absolutely can make a convincing argument for the lil guy.

Greatest football coach of all time? Please. One can make cases that Jimmy or even Pete Carroll are better.

My main point was that if these guys want NFL jobs again then wasting time in Tuscaloosy with a guy with a .469 NFL winning % is pointless. If they want to return to college then it makes more sense- especially for Gase. Bill O'Brien could probably get a decent college head coaching job right now without having deal with a year of kissing the ring and humoring the inbreds.

if you’re putting him in the top three with jimmy and pete, great. people make pilgrimages to see jimmy all the time, and he’s mostly retired and drinks, fishes and hangs out with chicks. saban is in the middle of the goat cfb run and is relevant to the game at college and pro levels. if you don’t see that, you might want to think harder rather than mock nfl people who disagree with you. like someone else noted, belichick disagrees with you.

the truth is, saban has built an amazing football organization and anyone in coaching should want to understand more about how he’s done it.

Yeah but apparently of the people that have worked for him, none have really learned his lesson have they? Who has really been successful in a meaningful way that has been through his factory? He’s running a **** of a program, there’s no doubt about that, I’m just not sure what people are getting out of it when they go there to enhance their own personal careers.

Maybe I just can’t think of anybody off the top of my head.

you’re lacking a control group to defend the inference you’re making.

no one said saban has a magic potion. this is a small community (pro coaching). if working for saban were a terrible idea, i’m pretty sure he wouldn’t have so many reputable coaches interested.

you are trying hard to put forth arguments about why you think it isn’t in other people’s interest to work for him. i’m more inclined to think enough of those other people can think for themselves and do their own homework, so if they keep considering working with him it’s probably because you’re missing something.

No I’m not, I’m making an observation, to which apparently you have no answer.

I actually don’t give a flying fūck who specifically goes to work for him or doesn’t. I’m just trying to establish in my mind what the actual benefit is from a career standpoint for somebody going to work for him.

Just out of curiosity.

Because it doesn’t seem like there’s much of a tree there. But I could be wrong, I would just like to see some names of people that have been successful post Saban work/sabbaticals.

As far as a control group, I’m not running a lab experiment or a clinical trail, I don’t need to have a control group. Unless you were making a funny, in which case, work on your delivery and content.

If you don’t understand a choice considered by numerous autonomous successful people with choices, you can mock them ... or keep thinking about it.
