Two concerns about Applewhite

Manny is holding off on hiring OL coach to get the OCs input. What kind of input do you think he’s gonna have? It’s not an encouraging sign that a guy who hired Donofrio is gonna have a say in such an important hiring.

Like I said I get what your saying but Manny gets the final say in this. I'm not gonna blast the guy based off 1 hire he made at Houston. I don't know what his options were at the time and what influences or promises were made at the time.

I mean what will you say if we hire a very good OL coach

Thank God we didn't hire him to pick defensive coordinators. People here complaining about decisions Applewhite made as a head coach while simultaneously hoping for Larry Fedora who drove UNC's program into the ground the last two years. Maybe you guys missed the game this year where our defense outscored the UNC offense?

One is the Donofrio hiring. Makes you wonder about his decision making especially with OL coach yet to be selected.

Second, with two talented TEs on the roster, does he use TEs well enough. I know Fedora does.

He hired Kendall Briles on the offensive side of the ball, which is where he’ll be coaching at Miami, but we’re worried about who he hired as DC?!?

D'Onofrio is the Typhoid Mary of football - but everyone screws the pooch on occasion.

Keep in mind - some GA fans were telling us we didn't want Richt - and we had no idea . . .

I'm interested in seeing what he can do with South Florida athletes. Obviously we need to get a QB first.

Difference is Fedora's offenses have done much better overall than Applewhite's. Fedora has had multiple seasons where his offenses averaged more than 6 yards per play, I can't find one season where Applewhite called the plays and that happened. Fedora even had a season where his offense averaged over 7 yards per play, which is very good. Overall, Fedora as an OC is a step above Applewhite in basically every statistical category.

You're right but Fedora's best offensive seasons were mostly while at Southern Miss. That was a while ago and competition was hardly tough. He had a good run at UNC and would probably do a good job here but OP was complaining about MA's decisions as a head coach. Fedora hardly set the world on fire as a head coach either.

It makes me concerned with his game planning. Clearly he doesn’t do enough research on what coaches he ought to hire, what will it be like when he is game planning for opponents
You cannot assume that.. jesus so a person who makes a mistake at one job will make it at the next stop. Are you ******* perfect?

DO NOT GET APPLEWHITE ......HES NOT A PLAYER COACH...IF YOU ASK THE PLAYERS UNDER HIM HALF OF THEM WOULD TELL YOU THEY CANT STAND HIM/ PERIOD.

Oh so it's always the coaches' fault? Sometimes player can be immature. Is it Richt's fault that perry is a bum? Just because this happened doesn't mean applewhite isn't a player coach.

The only it would ever make a lil sense is if they are in the same frat, but with the way that moron calls defenses and coaches them, im sure he's considered not in good standing!

Per Wiki:

In early 2013, Applewhite admitted he was disciplined by the University of Texas for "having an inappropriate relationship with a student at the 2009 Fiesta Bowl."[22] The student was employed by the football team as an athletic trainer. Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds reprimanded Applewhite by freezing his salary and requiring him to undergo counseling.[23] In a public statement Applewhite commented on the affair: "Several years ago, I made a regretful decision resulting in behavior that was totally inappropriate. It was a one-time occurrence and was a personal matter. ... Through counsel I have worked with my wife and the incident is behind us. I am regretful for my mistake and humbled by this experience. I am deeply sorry for the embarrassment it has caused my friends, family, and the University."[24] The revelation occurred in the wake of investigation into Texas track coach Beverly Kearney's relationship with a student athlete.[23]

Will he be able to fit in socially is the key, he just looks out of place. I read somewhere where somebody was saying "yall wanted a savage for an oc, well major cheated on his wife" LoL not sure what that has to do with anything but if he's coming down here and he's married, UH OH, hide the playbook, the gaytors and Fsu got wild ones on deck they can send at em to steal the game plan, hopefully he not to green. I dont care how good a coach is, you gotta be ready for Miami with the team and away from the team, many men have fallen victim.

Realus George got to be blown right now. Went from Richt saying he would be a focal point of the offense in a power run game to a spread offense. He can catch and run may have to loose weight to become goal line back.
