Tweet about Jarren and Trevor Lawrence

I don't really have a dog in this debate, but I'd point out your list makes up more than one generation. Also, even though most of those QB's turned out to be great, you could argue only Elway was considered a generational talent coming out of college.

Manning and Luck were close, but even many considered Leaf for #1 so that knocks back his inclusion and neither were considered great athletes (although Luck is pretty athletic).

Vick might be the next best argument (and to a lesser extent Newton) as having all the physical tools but weren't thought of as a traditional pocket passer. Vick was a special talent (but his brother was an *****).

Just to be clear, Mike Vick was and is an ***** too. Nobody drowns and electrocutes dogs for fun and is not an ***** for life. That's sadistic, psychotic behavior, not "poor choices". He may have done his time and served his debt, but that **** inside you doesn't change even if the behavior does.

If Alabama had beaten Clemson last year, that team would've gone down in history as one of the greatest CFB teams of all time. They crushed every opponent up until Georgia. TL absolutely shredded their defense as a true freshman. I don't know if he'll win two heismans or be the #1 pick, but I don't expect to see anything like that ever again.

There is nothing wrong with recognizing talent on other teams. Understanding that we have a QB that has continued to get better is a good thing. Claiming that our QB was at some point on par with Lawerance is homerism. Last year Lawerance won a national championship and was named offensive MVP of the game, and Williams was a backup to Rosier.

Maybe. In the last generation or so, we had brady, manning, Elway, Marino, Young, Montana, Rodgers, Favre, Kelly, Aikman, prolly Warner, supposedly Luck, Palmer, Testaverde, Newton, Vick. There are lots of guys who are the new new thing. I think Lawrence is a terrific prospect, but no need to nut over him in advance.
I stopped at Warner. Luck looks like the real deal; but can't stay healthy.

No one said Williams was better than Lawrence, just that he outperformed him at 2 events which is factual because it happened. Saying Williams was a backup to rosier while true was still beyond his control obviously because he was never given a chance to win that job.

Performance at camp is an opinion and so is him not being given a chance. In fact, all we heard about Williams last year was how great his balls looked. No one on this forum suggested he was better than Kosi. The only player that got recognization for outperforming Lawerance in high school was Justin Fields, who was briefly ranked higher than Lawerance. The purpose of these articles and tweets is to somehow suggest Williams was better than Lawerance and that is unfair to both Williams and Lawerance.

Got to remember Miami had several offensive players out at the opening playing with both QBs in all of the games so they had an unique outlook and perspective on the performances of the 2 in that particular event. Lingard, cam Davis , mark pope, Hightower, Brevin Jordan and Mallory all would know more than any of us. I dont See how the initial tweet suggested that if the person even said he’s not saying he’s better than Lawrence obviously right now but that he will be legit. Nothing wrong with that imo

I wouldn't call it homerism. If anyone claimed as he was on par with TL now (because of his past), I would agree. But it looks pretty well documented that at that 7 on 7 event, they played pretty evenly. Given what TL has done since, whereas Williams has wallowed as a back up, speaks more about how screwed up we were recognizing talent and developing people on the offensive side of the team.

i actually remember @dsddcane saying he was better than Kosi during camp last season. I realize its not the main part of your argument but that comment was inaccurate.

DO NOT EXPECT JARREN WILLIAMS TO BE TREVOR LAWRENCE. Even IF he was as talented (and thats a big if) he's not playing behind the same O line and he is not throwing to the same receivers!!! If you expect a Trevor Lawrence you will be disappointed!!!!!

Literally no one is expecting him to be Trevor Lawrence. People just pointing out that he outplayed him at one event. We don't need him to be Trevor Lawrence to have success either.

NOT ONE PERSON IN THE THREAD HAD SAID THAT THEY EXPECT JARREN WILLIAMS TO BE TREVOR LAWRENCE. Even if you wished they did so that it warranted this attention-seeking post (and that's a big if).

Honestly I didn't read **** in this dumbass thread nor did I imply anyone has said it I'm just sharing my opinion and other than Fidel Castro no one can oppress me.

He will win the Heisman twice and will be the number one pick in the draft after his junior season.
To be a mod don't you have to at least pretend to know something other than slurp on the QB of the team we will play in dec?

when is the last time you saw a true freshman chew up and spit out a good defense and win a nc.that alone should answer your question why people think so highly of Lawrence.

In two years when Lawrence declares for the draft he will be a very hot sought after commodity by almost every nfl team.they won't admit but I bet next season a few nfl execs if they could get away with it tank the season just to get that first pick in the draft to get him.as a freshman he chewed up a very good bama defense.
