TVD

The funny thing is that most people who complain about TVD's 1st half performances against FSU, UNC, and UVA fail to understand thst each time he has come back in the 2nd half and put us in a position to win.

He's a winner. Winners never quit.
Who fails to understand that? Some just have the ability to look at the two halves and not excuse one for the other either way.

We need a team that can play 4 quarters of football every week.

Suddenly Mallory is making some great catches too

Still a disappointment but we are seeing a little bit of how dangerous he can be if he can hang on to the ball
Facts, he made one really good catch yesterday. Probably the best one he's ever made actually. I think he was definitely in his head most of the season but he can be a skilled receiver (blocking....not so much).

Hopefully Garcia can wait it out next year and take over as a redshirt sophomore. TVD keeps this up and he'll be a first rounder.

Based on pure athletic potential, I predicted that Mallory would have a big year and I was definitely worried at midseason. Now, Mallory is living up to his promise and he is returning next season. Next season, Mallory has a chance to be another elite TE from the U

You guys are clueless. He's a freshman QB. You expect performance s from him that you haven't received from veteran QBs and don't demand fr other players on the team.

Because he's played so well, you expect it every week and every quarter of the game not allowed to make mistakes and learn from them.

COMPLETELY UNREALISTIC!!!
.

Inexcusable misses. Drive killers and touchdowns.
EVERY QB that has ever played from optimist on up has experienced a bad qtr.,a bad half or a bad game or two.Especially one that is learning as he goes.
Getting on the kid because he missed some throws or missed a read or two is ludicrous to say the least.

Kid still had us in the position to win the game and the so-called “ people with the experience “ took the ball out of his hands and trusted other people that didn’t produce.

Want to blame someone blame them not a kid who in essence is doing OJT…..

Where I am completely unrealistic is to expect to have an actual discussion on a CIS sports board.

It always has to be polarizing, but yet it doesn’t have to be.

TVD has looked fantastic. Bad turnovers are still bad turnovers and many of his INTs have been just that - bad decisions, bad turnovers.

I’m not saying he can’t learn from them, or hasn’t learned from them. But others need to be realistic too… if he keeps starting off missing and getting picked, people are going to start calling for the back up. Especially if the back up appears to have talent too. We just don’t have that guy right now.

He needs to keep learning and developing as I have said. When he’s on, he’s on. When he’s not, it’s still pretty ugly. He’s getting great experience this year in tight games and doing pretty **** well.

I like TVD. Kid has moxie and the "it" factor.

Sadly, I care about none of that as long as this abortion of head coach is still in charge of this football program.

I called those last three wins the useless, empty-calorie victories that the were—people getting caught up in the feeling of the win, instead of the fact that a bad Miami football team (collectively) eked out wins over sub par ACC competition.

Wins over NC State, Pitt and Georgia Tech mean absolutely zero if you lose to a 3-6 Florida State team.

THIS is why some of us were "rooting" for 2-4 to turn into 2-7 and this buffoon to get run out of town. Losses to NC State and Pitt would've had Diaz gone by Halloween and the team might've gotten the interim spark kind of energy they had under Larry Scott in 2015.

The minute our fans started talking about "winning out" I had to laugh. Miami drops a game like this EVERY YEAR dating back to 2005, when it **** the bed against Georgia Tech as the #3 team in the land. Miami was going to lose to FSU or VT with four games remaining. Book it. (Everyone who says VT sucks; the sucked in 2019 and were coming off a 45-10 home loss against Duke before jumping all over the Canes for the eventual upset.)

Van Dyke had been playing flawless; he was due for a game like this—and with no ground game to bail him out, or defense to make stands—this was inevitable.

Miami didn't do anything different in this game against Florida State than they did against Georgia Tech—same garbage football—they just stole a win versus one and gave a game away against another.

Eight first quarter penalties, three turnovers and a 14-0 hole. Way to have your kids ready for the biggest game of the year, Manure Diaz.
pretty much hit the nail on the head on all points

I dont think he is the guy. I also dont think he is not the guy. He is playing like a freshman at times and other times like a junior. Inconsistent, bad reads, bad throws and then perfect throws, great reads, etc

Hopefully the new HC doesnt pull a dIAZ and plays the upperclassmen just because. Whoever is not the starter next year will most likely transfer. Kids now away days dont want to sit and wait. Especially now you can transfer and play right away

You need to get a clue. One of his interceptions was when Harley got the ball taken away from him going to the ground. The other interception he threw the ball too short which was a mistake. He needed to miss long on that play.. Neither was agredgious.

He still had a 4 TD to 2 int ratio. WTF is your problem?

These football clueless MF's expect the world. Praise him one day and crucify him the next.

They expect this freshman to do what their pro football team QB can't do.

Peyton Manning had 26 TDs and 28 INTs in his 1998 rookie pro debut. He had 11 TDs and 6 INTs his freshman year at Tennessee.

These clueless idiots in our fanbase just need to STFU and appreciate that we have two young elite QBs.

Of course he's the guy. He knows how to bounce back from slow starts, plays with confidence. I like him a lot.

My brother (an fsu fan) texted me saying "Wow your QB is really good" a couple minutes later he texts me "wow this FSU guy can't throw at all"

ahahahaha

he them texted me a video of the 4th and 14, and was like " looks like you guys were playing with 8 guys on that play"
How is your brother possibly an FSU fan?

Y’all talking like van dyke going to be a starter for 2-3 years no lol .if he has a great year next year then he’s going to the draft and it’s garcia’s job after that.

Van dyke can make some good and gutsy throws but his deepball is inconsistent and that’s a fair assessment of his game

Not yet ready to call him the guy going forward. There's something there, just like I think there's something there with Garcia. Just not yet ready to anoint the guy when he is constantly starting out awful

I admit I was down on him yesterday after the way he started but boy did he put us in a position to win it. Sadly Manny is our HC.

Let’s pump the brakes..the 3 TOs in the first quarter was a huge reason we lost..and those were on TVD. Love the way he bounced back afterwards..in the off szn it needs to be open competition..and if jake passes him (he could) then you play 13..I’m done with the anointing of guys. From jacory to Stephen, to brad etc. QB room is in good shape tho..everything else needs a talent re haul

His footwork is what hurts some of his passes, he gets sloppy with it and has his feet point one way and tries to all arm his throws.. Happened a couple times and they just float.. Happened alot early on against UVA and UNC, he cleaned it up after but it appeared some in this game.. Nerves which is expected..

Needs to work with QB coach in summer HARD..
