TVD Torches Manny Diaz

I said on the recruiting board that I missed the entire 4th quarter and when I learned FSU won, I was a bit surprised but not shocked. The former mayor's son's goose was well done weeks before this game.

On a side note. has anyone posted the recent Penn State fiasco? Didnt want to post about of there is already a thread.

What Penn State fiasco?

Pretty innocuous soundbite but I bet several national media figures were offended and made sad on behalf of Manny Diaz by it.

WHY do they continue to treat this man SO badly??!!!!

A reminder to all of those who gave a lot of us guff for "rooting against" Diaz in the pointless 2021 football season; caring more about the greater good of this program, than some throwaway season that would've at best resulting in some third-rate bowl game.

Last season was the first time in four decades of being a Canes fan that I was actively rooting against the Canes. Once they hit 1-2 after folding against Michigan State, I was done with that fraud Diaz and any team he was in charge of.
TVD willed the kids to wins over North Carolina State and Pittsburgh by playing out of his mind—which set a great stage for this season—but those wins made a loss in Tallahassee even more necessary, as a rally-the-troops moment against those deadbeats could've saved Manolo's little job.

Thankfully the football gods cared more about UM's long-term future and stole his little feel good moment (with Papí on the sidelines with him). Wins against NCST, PITT and GT were by a combined eight points. Is that Miami football? Was that kind of team every going win big under that little fraud?

That loss against the Noles "made" their season—while SAVING Hurricanes football. The game entirely changed that day. Put ol' Manny Diaz in the UM Hall of Fame and the Ring of Honor for that loss as it solidified the changing of the guard and the comeback.

Put me firmly in the camp of not rooting against Manny or any other coach to fail. Hindsight is 20/20.

If you'd have told me, last November, that if we lose to FSU, we'd be guaranteed to get a new AD, hire Mario Cristobal, be one of the premier NIL schools in the country, the rise of Ruiz, and the entire university would embrace and support the football program in a way that has NEVER happened in the history of the school, I'd have been sabotaging the sonofabitch myself. You'd have seen me out there in ******* warpaint.

But there was obviously no guarantee any of this would happen, not to mention all of it. So **** yeah, in hindsight, the FSU loss and overall 7-5 season was the best thing to happen here in 2 decades. But none of you knew it would play out this way, so I will always stand firmly in the paint that I will never hope the kids and coaches and staff and administrators I support will fail. Ever. If they do, and we wind up stronger, so be it. But nobody had a crystal ball on this stuff.

Bottom line, let Manny die. He's gone. We're in a much, much better place. The future is so ******* bright, Trump wants to stare directly into it. Enough Manny. It's Mario's time.

Cheers to that!!

BUT, you're right, absolutely no one could have seen any of this coming.

I rooted for Diaz until the end, really did not have a choice, but we are in a ridiculously better situation right now

Same here it was painful but didn't feel like I was rooting against my boys just wanting the inevitable process of moving to a legit staff to speed up

The similarities between Norvell and Manny, in terms of both being gimmicky who lack strong foundations and are constantly trying to convince people they are good enough for the job is uncanny

I’ve moved on from the Manny era, and looking forward to Miami starting a new winning streak against FSU

I’m really trying to not drink the Kool-Aid (see last 20yrs) but god **** I’ve never had more optimism for my Canes.
