Official TVD comments on Hard Rock

You're the man and I appreciate you giving that a go, but also wondering why you did.

At the Orange Bowl, they used to count butts in seats with stubs. I don't remember when they stopped that at the place Joe Robbie built, but the numbers reported are big time off since they use tickets sold instead.

I don't know why, but the tickets sold versus actual fans drives me nuts.

Ohhhh, so r u saying the numbers found at HRS are typically less than those who actually are at the game?

So a drop and a overthrow are two times in a full game we had pockets ? That game was just a total mismatch on both sides. We were severely overrated ( like always) and got blasted by a far better team , coach and players. The media built it up as some showcase game that got Clemsons attention. They knocked us out early because they were in another weight class.

AM is nowhere in that stratosphere.
Never said A&M was in same stratosphere but they were well coached as a secondary and communicated every well.

You are cherrypicking here on one point and conflating it. We were not all that great the following week against a pedestrian Pitt defense. We could not run the ball against UVA the week after either.

Your point is Lashlee could scheme up this set of wideouts better than Gattis. I agree on that point, but they most certainly would have had no problem stopping the run. Now the pressure is on our passing game. Who on this roster fills the Rambo and Hartley rolls? That is the question and the problem.

this is common w a lot of teams. it depends on the team and not venue. the marlins count tickets sold and changed it to butts in seats when ownership changed. the heat do tickets sold. the canes do tickets sold.

So it’s a a Miami thing, huh? Lol.

It doesn’t matter that we have struggled with attendance (tho 50k+ butts in seats was a great showing for BCU)…

you NEVER put your own weaknesses on blast like that. You can acknowledge your weaknesses (we’d like our fans to consistently fill up the stadium, or fan energy matters to us as players and we’d like more of it…), but you just DO NOT say what TVD said in that interview. Very poor. ESPECIALLY given the timing of a loss that’s 100% on the passing offense… that just makes it WORSE.

Also… Hard Rock is an AWESOME venue when the fans show up and get loud. That place does a great job holding in the noise.

The attendance numbers are how many tickets were sold, not how many attended. They don't take stubs or any prior method to count who came through the gates. So if they say there's 45k at a game, you can bet its less.

I don't know why it bugs me, it seems intentionally deceptive. A simple way of actually keeping track is turnstyles, but then you've gotta tabulate and announce later. It was always cool being in the stadium back in the day and waiting to hear how many actual people were there.

I disagree; I think 60 is the right fit. Anything over 60 is just foolish w/ this small of student & alumni base.
Maybe create something similar and modular like LOCKHART...errrr..DRVPink Park.....

30-40Kish then add more seating modules if demand grows or for "the bigger games".

Not super elegant, just a thought.

That makes way more sense. I would hear & see the total at HRS, but the crowd didn’t appear to vibe w/ the attendance on record.

I don't know that it was ever a rule thay you had to count through the door. I know that when AppState (my youngest brother went there, 12 years younger) was trying to get to D1, they had an attendance figure they had to get to for consideration. I also recall that Temple was having trouble meeting that number and would maybe have to drop. D1. Anyhow, that's why you'll always see people saying after a game, there didn't seem to be that many people there. You have season tickets and don't go, doesn't matter, it's still counted as attending.

It’s literally exactly what he said. Here’s the quote:

We don’t really have much of a college atmosphere ’cause we play at Hard Rock. So we’re 25 minutes away from campus. So a lot of students don’t go up to most of the games, unless it’s a big game.

Completely agree. TVD needs to get his head out of his ***.

the marlins do turns now. when they did, they were averaging like 5k fans for certain games. its embarrassing. the canes if they did turns, would be embarrassed too on the actual number.

I guess you've never attended UM. if you did, you'd know ti doesn't matter where the stadium is. students dont go to UM for football period. they go for the city, nightlife, etc. also, hes right. miami isnt a college town and well never have a college atmosphere. stop getting salty for something well never be. if you want that, support a podunk team in a college town. UM is treated like a pro team.

Just need Ruiz's plan to come to fruition and make the capacity 45,000-50,000 like TCU and Baylor who are also private schools like us. A full 50,000 capacity little hornets nest would look way better than an 40% empty HRS most weeks

alos dont leave the rest out of it -- "That’s why I like going into away stadiums and seeing that college atmosphere, playing there and making the crowd quiet."

even at 50, its still gonna empty for the reg games. you aren't filling a game for MTSU Bethune or southern miss anywhere

Bro it is literally exactly what he said. You can say two things at once:

1. I like to play on the read more to silence the crowd
2. Because we don't really have a crowd and exciting game day atmosphere unless its a big game since our stadium is 25 minutes away from campus

He said both those things. I don't think we need to blow it out of proportion it was a dumb thing to say even if its true lol

But the people pretending like he didn't say it I don't understand how you refuse to acknowledge his actual words lol
