Official TVD comments on Hard Rock

The 2001 team - the best team ever in college football - played four home games at less than 50% capacity in the Orange Bowl, and sold 58% of their tickets that season. courtesy of Tim Reynolds

Did the casual fan know this team destined to be GOAT during the '01 season?

How was attendance in '02??

I went to games in 01. It was empty a lot aside from the big games like every canes season. we were also 1 or 2 all year that year in the rankings. It wasn't like we were a surprise lol. we also came off a 1 loss 2000 season so we came in w hype.

02 was literally the outlier bc we won a title. attendance tailed off after that year and back to previous levels.

Very true. Thats why I tell parents to stay off social media , **** players too. It’s nit healthy. The average fan doesn’t know what they’re watching and only go on emotion.
WHAT? Porsterazzi overreacting??

He didn’t say it was a “terrible” atmosphere as I’ve seen reported by sites like Barstool, but the gist was basically the same.

Look, he’s not wrong obviously.. but I fail to see how it’s helpful in any way whatsoever for your starting QB (who hasn’t been so hot himself) to be talking down like that. Essentially giving opposing recruiters free ammo, which absolutely blows. “Look, even their star QB says it sucks!” I mean come on, you simply can’t have that.

He's a young man who needs and will learn all things life.

With that said, his actual comments are not good from a program optics point of view, truth or not.

Agreed 100%. Something like that is one of the last **** things you need after a tough loss. Being in the position he is, have to be smarter than that.
With all the money invested, I hope Miami isn't letting these athletes out in the wilderness for these interviews.

Tell me they have handlers guiding them, teachimg them scripted answers.

A&M just had one of their highest crowds ever a week after their worst loss.

This “win and they will come” is just a way to say our fan base sucks. It does.

The Dolphins got more fans while going 1-15. It is what it is.

I agree with TVD, it’s much more fun going to road games. Try it and compare

There is only one game in town in College Station. There are 10K things to do on a Miami SFL weekend. USC doesn’t have big crows either. Private schools in large metropolitan areas where very little alumni live is not a unique problem to Miami. I’ll throw Northwestern and BC in for ***** and giggles. Pro teams have more support because they pull fans despite of college affiliation as well as opposing fans attend.

Miami does better when we win and when we win there are more 3:30pm and night game slots which also help with attendance. I get that there are disadvantages with playing at Hard Rock (expensive concessions, exclusive parking don’t help) but when Miami wins, there is a bump in attendance. Unfortunately we have not won much the last 20 years. Who wants to pay to see Lucy pull the ball away from Charlie Brown?
