“I’m an explosive type of defensive tackle,” Valentine continued. “I’m not that defensive tackle that’s going to sit there and let the offensive lineman hold me. I’m going to tear the offensive lineman off of me so when that running back comes or when that quarterback’s wide open for me to hit, I’m going to hit him.”

He ain't trying to play paddy-cake for No D & Uncle Jethro

Heard. I think the Pete Carroll quote is a must implement... Read & React is obviously not working. & if it's pushing the best away, even more so.

“When you put a defensive lineman in a gap and tell him he has to control the gap, he can play very aggressively,”

It's Golden's scheme. D'Onofrio is just his clueless butt buddy who's running it for him.

God I hate them so much.

Valentine said similar things from the FSU game on throughout the rest of the season. Retaining Dorito and Golden's flirtation with Penn St pushed it over the edge.

If you recall, Nigel Bethel also had similar concerns about the lack of aggression and man coverage played by this defense.

Elite Savages ain't trying to play slap&tickle for Corch Al. He gone and it's a **** shame.

/in before the "it's his handler/grades/got paid" ****** rationalizing crowd

Some folks like to get away
Take a holiday from the neighborhood
Hop a flight to Miami Beach
Or to Hollywood
But I'm taking a Greyhound
On the Hudson River Line
I'm in a New York state of mind

For everyone of these quotes I can find some that say something else. Chech this out http://mmqb.si.com/2013/07/26/derek-mason-stanford-read-option/.

“If you’re playing single-gap defense, you’re going to be one gap short every time,” Mason says, pausing at the whiteboard and turning around to make sure this important point is understood.

The defense has sucked. There is no reason to try so hard and find meaningless info to try And prove a point. It has nothing to do with the 3-4 two gap. It has more to do with the play run out of the 3-4 coupled with poor substituting and bad players.

It could be used as a positive by our staff saying the reason our scheme has been this way for three yrs is because we didn't have a dt like Valentine to run what we really want to.

But yet his favorite player is Vince Wilfork??....Hmmmm..Sounds like BS to me.

No thanks, I will not buy. Much appreciated.

If I'm Al and Donut I'm telling him we look like we react so much because we don't have beasts like TV on the D-line. I'm telling him he might start from day 1. Sell the kid on the fact he is a guy that changes the way this defense works.

dont buy then

my favorite defensive tackle ever is vince wilfork and i HATE our scheme that we run. If Wilfork was in our scheme today as a college player he would still be a beast just because thats the type of player he is. he can push the whole front 3 of the the linemen back into the qb's and rb's faces.

Our problem isnt ONLY scheme, its talent.

We do have talent, but not fit for this "scheme" that even if we did have the talent for would still NEVER win us a championship.

Read and react my ****.

If that's the case why did he ever commit to play in this scheme

couple of reasons i can think of here, just presuming of course.

Loves the campus and South Florida, wanted to stay home.

Bought the lemon Golden was selling him.

Got all excited to play with his boys.

We get our **** pushed in by FSU, get our weak *** D exposed and never recover from it. My girl who doesnt pay much attention to football went to the Rustled Bowl with me and asks me "How come when we snap the ball they are all over us, but when they do we kind of just stand there and wait for them to do something?..."

Thats a 22 year old girl who gives no ***** about football, and she can point out the flaws in our defensive scheme. Its elementary my dear watson. Like my boy Nas said, it aint hard to tell... no success with this pointless scheme unless we have at least 6 nfl caliber playmakers in our front 7-8.
