Oh Yeah I totally agree. Why would the coaching staff want to incentivize the defense to create turnovers in games against unranked opponents? Why waste a good turnover against a bad team. Why waste extra effort when it may not be needed?

And ****, why stop there? Why not play the Dorito shell scheme defense against unranked opponents so as to avoid unnecessary turnovers in our favor. I really like your line of thinking here.
