Tulane's #1 Choice Is Dawson

Wow literally posted in another thread how crazy it'd be to promote a guy who wasn't even the OC (Joe Craddock was) to HC.

What a disappointing hire for Tulane. Gives us the stability of keeping Dawson at least.
Valid but Hall has 10 years of HC experience. Failed at USM but I think he's a lot better than the results he had there.

He is a good OC and the continuity is important, especially in this portal era.

*knock on wood* - no other OC has stayed with Mario for 4 seasons right?
I just like the idea of having the returning kids not having to learn a new system with a very favorable early schedule given ND is in November and South Carolina cancelled that game

Never had the same OC for more than 2 years since he's been a HC until Dawson

FIU - year 1: James Coley, year 2-3: Bill Legg, year 4-5: Scott Satterfield, year 6: Tim Cramsey

Oregon - year 1-2: Arroyo (he was co-OC with Mario for 1 year under Willie before that), year 3-4: Moorhead

Miami - year 1: Gattis, year 2-4: Dawson

Dawson either just doesn't want to be a HC or he doesn't interview well.

I lean towards the first part.

Good for us. I love continuity when its working. When he figured out how to use Toney, the offense exploded.
I've said it before, and just a gut hunch. But Dawson strikes me as a lifer kinda dude. He wants some stability for his family as well. I think he's around for a bit.

Worked for Clemson promoting WR coach Dabo.

Some guys are just better HC material as CEO and motivational types rather than playcalling minds. We have one ourself.

Hope it works out for Tulane.

Stability is very important. Would have been devasting for CiS to have to find new stuff to argue about the offense next year. We won't even have to start new threads. Efficient af.
IF Mario continues to let him do his thing, this is a good gig for him. Run the offense without the head coach pressure.

Also, while I know a lot of people have issues with Dawson, him staying is good for continuity with attracting potential veteran portal QBs after how both Beck and Cam have spoken so highly of him in their development.

Yeah I like Dawson a lot. I have high hopes and expectations for how our offense performs in the playoff.

I concede that there were issues with how we were calling plays on offense this year. I don't know whether that was Dawson alone, Mario alone, or some combo.

I think there were also personnel issues: mainly that we got very little from 3 presumed playmakers & it took a while for Beck to get comfortable that were also huge factors that contributed to it taking so long for the offense to look like we all expected it to.

Long way of saying I think we're in a unique spot amongst the playoff teams in that we can credibly expect our offense to make a big positive leap the more games we play.

concur in all respects. it was a number of things, all of which seem to have been resolved favorably at the right time.
