Tulane's #1 Choice Is Dawson

it did not cost us

Carson Beck threw 4 interceptions and we still could have won the louisvile game

a roughing penalty and a Carson Beck back breaker Interception in overtime broke us vs SMU

wasn't an INCREDIBLE year for the offense but still 20 in most metrics, anyone hating on dawson just is clueless
Wrong

It’s always funny to me that as fans of any program, we separate the good ****, from the bad ****, when it comes to the new guy we want to hire. 🤣😂🤣. It be like, “Man that Dawson guy got Miami’s offense humming..
“**** yeah, guy can scheme up some ****.”
“There was one 4 game stretch where he didn’t average but like 21ppg, though”
“yeah, that was Mario sticking his nose in the offensive play calling again.”
“Yeah u probably right. The last 4 weeks we been rolling!”
“It’s no secret. Mario got the **** out the way and let Dawson do his thing. It’s been different…. So if must’ve been that he stepped back some. What we’re seeing right now is definitely all or more of what Dawson wants to run, though.”😂🤣😂

anyone who thinks this is a good thing for miami is sadly mistaken. we are national championship caliber right now, with this roster and staff.

stability is a good thing. can we do better? of course. is it likely? i dont think so.
I'd prefer stability too since I really like Dawson as an OC, but the last time we were similarly on the cusp as a program Schiano left in the off-season. We don't have a inhouse option like we did back then (am kidding about Mirabel...or am I? Lol) Worked out alright 25 years ago.

If Dawson is offered this job he would be crazy not to take it. Guys career went into the wilderness for a while after the Kentucky fiasco and he's not going to be in a better position than he is in now. Dawson moving on to bigger and better things is a good thing for the program, IMO

If we believe in Mario as head coach (I do and I know you do too) we also have to believe that he'll do just fine when he has to replace coaches. He wasn't great at it the first few bites at the apple here, but everyone he hired last year has been a massive upgrade.

Plus, Tulane is a good job. They've been on the rise as a program thx to NIL.

Yes, and by all accounts, Sumrall has recruited well at the school and is leaving it in a good place. It remains to be seen if he dips into their roster once at Florida and if they're able to keep some of their players.

This would suck because at minimum it means:

We have to find a new OC that knows how to use Mali

We have to prove that we have a guy on deck that can keep producing QBs

We have to re-recruit the roster once we get the guy

We have to do it all on a quick timeline, not Mario’s usual bull****
1. All you gotta do is turn on the tape. Unless you hire a caveman, this is not complicated
2. Dawson produced who exactly? LOL. We bought Cam and Beck and they performed as expected (Cam a bit better with excellent weapons) behind a dominant OL that Mario built.
3. Ehh $$$ talks. No one is here cause of Dawson
4. Yeah it'll take 4 months, dont disagree here.

Dawson is abover average but certainly not elite. Could Mario whiff again and hire a Gattis? Yeah its a risk. Im totally fine if he stays but if he leaves chance to upgrade. Mario strikes gold with a heatherman like OC and watch out. Become like Ed O at LSU honestly, recruit like a beast and let coordinators cook. I'll take the risk but thats just me.

Top 25 offense all 3 years.

But we have fans that are "ready to move on."

This fanbase, man.
DAWGGGG how quick we forget where we have been.. Taking Mario in mind with his long decisions, 50/50 chance we end up with Gattis or the like in his choices, Probably best 3 year run we have had in last 20 years here. Like dudes forget the type of offensive football we have played for years here.. And I wasnt the biggest fan of his hire but he has done amazing with what he has had and where we have been.

We deserve Maribal and Mario as CO OC.

I like Dawson, so maybe this is just copium, but he’s just never struck me as a head coach.

He might not fancy himself as one either but it’s tough to turn down that sort of money and control.

And Most of these guys agents are pushing them to take a HC job when the offer comes.

I really want to keep Dawson but at some point someone is going to poach him. Hopefully Mario has names in mind that aren’t Gattis level, or named Jason Candle.

I’d prefer continuity with the coaching staff but at the same time would not fault him for taking a head coaching job. It’s a good thing when other schools actually want your coaches.

That said we can do better. The offense took a big step back this year without Cam pretty much calling the games. It wasn’t just a short stretch in the middle of the season. We weren’t explosive early in the year either but it got ignored because we were winning games. I liked a lot of the wrinkles he added late in the year but why did it take losing twice for that to happen?

My big fear is that conservative Mario takes 6 months to hire a guy who coaches as scared as he does. Things could have been a lot worse than what Dawson gave us. HopefullY a new guy can develop a quarterback one day.

Have already stated I’d like him back, but you can’t turn that down if they offer him that job. I’ll believe that he is their top target though when I see it. I feel like they can do a little better honestly.
I agree. He’d be in my T5 there but you could get a really good young coach there. I’d definitely call and gauge interest, but there’s coaches who can recruit a bit better imo. Which no matter level you need in a HC.
