Truth is starting to come out (Warren Sapp tweet)

I'm actually surprised LRG hasn't had that "I better pipe down for a while, I've been wrong about literally everything" moment yet.

In his pathetic attempt to continue defending his hero and attempting to buy him time, he forgets that Shannon took over:

- For a team that just had a player murdered in an execution style
- A program that was being destroyed in the media for their on-the-field brawl -- "THUG U" was being tossed around again
- An offense that finished 87th in the country
- An offense with so little skill position depth that Punter Brian Monroe played first team WR in the Spring Game

The only REDEEMING thing about that team was that it finished 7th in the country in total defense the year before -- the unit he was responsible for.

Golden was took over a roster with 13 kids that will/would go on to play in the NFL.

"Oh boo hoo the NCAA is LOOKING at us -- not even handing down any actual sanctions yet that'll hurt us, they're just LOOOKING into it" Get that **** **** out of here.

who's defending golden? the uva loss is inexcusable. Now the fact that i can be logical has no bearing on that. I think the admin will give him leeway because of randy being terrible and the shapiro stuff.. sorry, the pata stuff had zero people on ESPN talking about death penalty to the program, and the randy was part of the issue from what he inherited, so i don't want to hear that noise either.

defending him/

What does Shannon's performance have to do with Golden? This is Golden's roster filled with players he and his staff have tried to develop since they arrived. Shannon can't be blamed whatsoever for the embarrassing product we've seen this season. It's Year 4 and we're going to finish in the bottom half of the pathetic ACC Coastal. That is 100% on Al Golden, period.

Saying the administration will give Golden leeway because his predecessor was also incompetent doesn't make any sense. Their results are essentially identical. There are no excuses. Golden needs to be fired.

Using Corch Radio as a comparison point is beyond retarded. If Fat Warren wants to make dumb arguments then one could ask him how a lifelong Cane performed so poorly. Theoretically, shouldn't someone that bleeds orange and green know better how to run the program he was so entrenched in? One of "our own" failing so bad should be even more reprehensible. Both should be and should have been fired. The moment one makes the case that Shannon shouldn't have you lose all credibility and I bet Sapp would say that Radio should have received another year. He's dumb like that.

I don't think Warren was trying to say Randy shouldn't be fired, I think he's stating how was Randy fired w/ a better win record over our life-long arch rival, yet Golden gets a pass b/c of what? He wears a tie? I totally agree w/ him. Golden's team is reverting back to year one w/ Golden and this team is much more talented than what he had in year one. We have regressed tremendously. He blamed year one on a new system being implemented. He blamed year two on the cloud and the team being too young. Year three it was all good when we were 7-0, but after we went 2-4 down the stretch, he used attrition as a means to excuse the collapse. Now we come to year 4...there's no more cloud, he has depth, and a balance of talent experience and talented youth....and his excuses have been 1) starting a true frosh on the road and not opening up the playbook for him 2) playing in back to back night games were tough on his team 3) a moral victory and 4) it's start w/ me....come on!!! This is year 4 and EVERYONE picked us to win this neutered division of FBS football and we have continually underachieved...in year 4. His window is closed and Sapp is absolutely correct...if Randy didn't get a pass, why should Al when his players off the field have been a train wreck as well.

I agree with everything you say except I never give Sapp the benefit of the doubt when it comes to making a reasoned statement.

Touche....Sapp is an idiot and I hate when he speaks on the program, but his criticism for Golden is spot on, and it's being echoed by those close to the program and those who are not close to the program. Jim Rome said he's a huge U fan b/c he appreciated us starting a trend that EVERY school is copy-cating. He stated that Golden seems lost out there (this was after the Nebraska game). He said what does it take to realize to put eight in a box to stop their running attack...did they have to run it on us 100% of the time instead of 87%? He also he was never a fan of the hire and he had hoped Gruden was the choice in 2011.

I think people are confused when they bring up Randy and AL as a comparison. I think what people are saying is that. they wasted no time to get rid of Randy when AL has done the exact same thing and worst because he cant even get a win against a very good opp. I knew Randy was dumb as **** as a coach but i knew the Canes were going to fight like no other and not give up and bring that swagger every sat. Al has neutered this program and as much as he embraces the past , he equally kills the future because he will not let these guys play all out. the couple times we did we were dominate even against FSU in the first half then he *****ed up in the 2nd half and it carried over against UVA.

There is nothing funnier than you, one of the most clueless, uneducated people around, constantly citing your ability to use "logic."

4 years in.. An entire roster of his guys. 10 of them with NFL draft grades. And somehow you're trying to use Shannon as an excuse to give him more time. We're all praying for you.

Oh great lets give him another 3 years to fck this program up some more. Tired of the excuse wagon and especially our dumb *** friends making excuses for him. Explain this Dau83 how come we continue to lose to teams with half the talent?

Coker set the program back 10 years. In all honesty Golden just got into a program that was too much for him. He just isn't a high level coach at this point. He is the perfect coach for a program like Rutgers were the expectation is 6-8 wins a season. There is pressure to win at Miami and you better do it or you will lose the fan base quickly. I think even Golden realizes he was in over his head after 2 years. He just wasn't relatable with South Florida kids and just didn't have the football mind to be successful here. You can bad mouth the man all you want, but he did stay here and at least try to help the program through the NCAA scandal. Some coaches just cant get it done at a big time program. It has happened before and will continue to happen across the country.

for a minute I thought you was making more excuses talking about Coker set us back 10 years lmao dude stfu

Miami sold its self when Coker was there. He couldn't recruit or coach. Try again

The BOT needs to ask themselves a simple question: What does giving Al another year do? Nothing, it's going to be the same **** show. Passive defense and losing to sub par teams year in year out. It's not going to change. He's not going to be able to attract NFL players to make up his deficiencies. end of story.
If they've thought to themselves one time, "I'm going to end up firing this dude." Then they should do it now or they will just end up saying later "I should have fired that dude back in 2014. There's absolutely no excuse to be 6-5 with this team. He skipped his chance to fire Dorito and give himself another year, it's even too late for that. He got the benefit of the doubt last year, he needs to get the boot this year.

The Randy meme fits the situation for those who think it can be used to get Al fired. That said, there's little truth to it. The program is way better off now than when Al took over. Randy had zero idea how to recruit. He recruited like a fat girl trying to get a prom date. We had huge holes in the roster. I give Al a ton of credit for keeping things together in 2011 and 2012. THAT is what Al is good at. Now that the wave has passed, its time to win. And THAT is what Al is not so good at.

Al took over a program that finished the regular season the year before 7-5. At best in his fourth year without this imagined "cloud" hanging over his head anymore this program is........7-5. That is assuming this team beats Pitt which isn't a given by any means. Hard stats say you are full of **** with this program is better now than when he took over line.

The bot will not fire one of their own it is time for us as fans no matter what color to take a stand for the injustice!

lol....

Al recruiting well huh.....

Let's take a glimpse of all of the recruits of F.A.G since he's been here:

2011 class (his smallest class)
Ranked 33rd....tell me if you know these guys (Ricardo Williams, Gionni Paul, Antonio Kinard, Eddie Johnson, Corey King, Darius Smith)
That's right, none of them our on this team anymore. Johnson and Paul were kicked off the team (causing depth issues on the lb front)
Corey King is a JAG...Smith, Williams, Kinard...your guess is as good as mine.

2012 class (his best class)
Ranked 9th (Jawand Blue, Jacoby Briscoe, Jontavious Carter, Gary Crow, Vernon Davis, Preston Dewey, Danny Dillard, Nate Dortch, Dwayne Hoilett, Larry Hope, Dequan Ivery, Angelo Jean-Louis, David Thompson, Gabriel Terry, Jake O'Donnell)
Half of the guys on this list didn't make it in, some were kicked off, some went to other sports, some are just JAGs....on paper, this was the 9th ranked class, but half of that class ain't here...once again, depletion of depth.

2013 class (a top 15 class)
(Beau Sandland, Kevin Olsen, Sonny Odogwu, Ray Ray III, Derrick Griffin, Devante Bond, AQM)
only one of these guys are still on this team and he's the biggest (literally) JAG on the team. 2 never made it in, one was kicked off the team, the other was dang near kick off the team, and the other transfered. 37% of this class, no show....once again creating depth issues.

2014 class (a top 15 class)
jury is still out.

so far under Golden's "expertise" in recruitng, we've had 6 players dismissed from this team for OFF THE FIELD ISSUES. We've had a whole slew of JAGs and players that transferred to other schools. Out of the 98 recruits we've had during his tenure, 30% of his classes are not here. Are you telling me that this program is really in better shape now? We have safeties who are afraid to tackle...they have a rb coming at them full speed and they are back peddling. We have 5 star recruits playing like they were 2 star. We have 4 star recruits playing like they were unranked. Randy was a hot mess b/c the guy gave two F's about the Offensive side of the ball, but Golden gives 2 F's about this team in general (see him trying to leave us for PSU.) Please don't make general statements w/o facts suppporting your statements.

Preach the truth. This relentless recruiter. The program is worst. We had one off the field issue under Randy...that was in the legal system and it was Marve situation.

Thank you!!!! Don't get me wrong, RS was not a head guy...he was a horrible coach...but to say this program is in better shape now than where it was is absolutely absurd. We are EXACTLY back to where we were before this bum took over this program. So he just stole $10m from this program's funds just to make a lateral move. we haven't made not one improvement under his tenure. ST? Worst each year. Def? Worst in programs history? Off? No second half adjustments at all. So if all three phases are taking a downward turn, then why is he still here again?

Its clear sapp knows the bot is racist why havent the former players suggested a rally or march against the program ? It is clear it goes deeper than football

The race angle is a joke but if thats what this team needs to build media momentum of his firing im ok with shouting if from the roof top

A joke? How is it a joke

The whole racism thing is a complete joke. If the BOT and all those involved with hiring were so racist, why in the world would they have hired a black coach in the first place?

The reason why Golden may not get fired is because of the Nevin Shapiro stuff and how he handled it and I think that is painfully clear. I think its ridiculous that thats the case but it has to be the reason why hes still here.

But I sure hope that we are all wrong in thinking that Golden will be here next year and I hope that by next Sunday or Monday, we will be freed of him and the search for his replacement can begin

Golden is not good enough to be our coach, but because Shalala leaving soon and being stuck with an interim AD, I fear she and the BoT will punt on firing him, relegating us to another year of irrelevance and mediocrity.

We'll know by next Monday which way this is going to break.
