Trusty Trent!

Tossing aside elite athletes to shoehorn less physically gifted kids into an overly complicated defense that can't produce results.

What a time to be a Hurricane.

I guess I don;t really feel like I've seen this amazing body of work from AQM to date either. Don't get me wrong..he should be the horse you roll with but I don't think anyone here has a whole lot of evidence to say AQM is a beast beyond his build.

Name one defensive lineman at Miami that has looked anything remotely close to "good". Coaching is murdering these kids' NFL stock, just ask Chick what he and his fam thinks of Golden.

Trent has Pillars and Core Values like Rudy!

so people complaining about some depth on the dline? AQM will get his reps...and if it turns out the reps are about the same, who cares? someone has to start. they can't play them all at the same time.

Someone get out the tapes of the Army All American game where AQM dominated his side of the line...Against the best in America I might add.

I see your point. Just gotta make sure they BOTH get their participation medals.

This.

We must be the unluckiest team in the country, what with all these 4 and 5-star busts at edge rusher.

I get that this is about bashing Golden's rhetoric, but I am surprised no one has defended Trent so I guess I will. The kid jumped out to me several times in games last year. It seemed like he held the edge well and made good tackles in space. I agree its hard to evaluate dlineman when they aren't asked to get up field, but when you ask, "who the **** made that play" (as I did several times last year) and it turns out to be a true freshman I think that is a good baseline evaluation. He and AQM will get equivalent reps so please bump this thread in a few games. I am buying Trent Harris stock. We aren't talking about Shayon Green here, the kid has a lot of athletic ability in his own right.

I said nothing about Trent's ability or potential. This is way bigger than just one kid getting PT over another; this scheme systematically sabotages these kids' potential future earnings by putting them in disadvantageous positions over and over and over. It's a joke, except nobody is laughing.

Yes, I agree with your criticism of golden and that the scheme both makes it hard to evaluate dlinemen and it hurts their draft stock. I have, however, seen Trent Harris make good plays, like his ability, and feel like he is getting bashed without anyone pointing out that he is a good player for our team. My comment was both in response to you and general.

Muhammad sports the shinier pedigree. The production? That’s about the same. It’s Harris, however, who has the better “process.”

“Trent was one of our most reliable players on defense a year ago,” said coach Al Golden, who praised Harris for his error-free play then and continues to do so. “He plays the defense exact every play.”

“He’s done nothing but get better since he got here,” defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio said. “He improved his speed. Again, what he does at an elite level is he does his job. That’s what he does elite. Ultimately that’s what you want. If you have a guy who runs a 4.5 but doesn’t play the defense, all you have is a guy that runs 4.5. You don’t have a good player. Trent’s a really good player.”

Speaking of jobs, it's D'Nofrio's job to teach kids who have elite talent how to play their role within the system.

"he covers slot recievers, gets in a frog stance, and doesn't get after the opposing quarteback like i tell him every play", says al golden. Every time i saw trent in the game last year he was getting manhandled.

The main question you have to ask yourself is why the guy that runs the 4.5 can't do his job? It's probably because the guys running the team aren't doing theirs.

I'm telling you, Golden is sabotaging himself.

He doesn't want to be here anymore, but he wants as many excuses as possible at the end of the season to justify his ****ty record.

He's throwing mud against a wall, with the hope that something will stick and parlay it into another job at a mediocre program.

I think there's even more to this. It's not so much that is sabotaging himself. I think that Golden knows what Golden knows....it's what he was brought up on and it's really the only thing he will be able to move forward with. Knowing his roots and likely future destinations (midwest, east coast, lower expectation programs), it really does make sense in his mind to "stay the course" and continue to be the tyoe of coach we apparently all hate.....because that's the type of coach that those new potential schools love love love!!! It would also explain his virtual zero tolerance policy with any negative incidents, etc.

I've said it before and I'll say it again....you guys need to be flying the banner to fire the BOT and the ADMINS..fire the AD. THESE are the same guys who are going to hire your next coach too..don't forget! They hired the last 2 idiots!!!
I've grown weary of kicking around Golden...he really is just what he is...and unfortunately for us all it's HIS bosses that have knowingly saddled us with him. I'd love to see you all turn that venom where it truly belongs.

This school has always had HORRIBLE leadership. I don't know about this guy Frenk, but I have little hope he will change the culture that prevails on the rest of the administration and BOT. It's so ingrained now after all these years that nothing will change it. Am really afraid I know what happens when Golden gets fired. They'll just go ahead and elevate James Coley to HC after making a halfazzed search for someone else (and paying a fortune for it in the process). No one decent is coming here for the chump change these blockheads want to pay.

"Even though he runs a 2 minute 40, and covers under his shell when faced with adversity...The tortoise doesnt makes mistakes and does what he is supposed to do thats why Im starting him"-Donofrio
That would be funnier if the tortoise had not won that race.
Your missing the point..... Coach up the phucking hare...and get that tortoise out of my phucking face..thats why you are paid millions of dollars

"Coach up the phucking hare" lol

Think player then plays!

Then do what you wanted to do anyway whether or not the kids fit the system.
