Highlights Trust The Process......Again

I didn't read the article because it's paid.

I think most of us were willing to be patient. Even expecting 3-4 losses this year (I was optimistic with losses only to A&M and Clemson but a few other close ACC losses would have been forgivable).

But what has happened so far is not any indication of progress. The reason the loss to MTSU was so painful is because he had already screwed up our best player and our offense. 2 terrible miscalculations. Then you add to it that we lost to such an inferior team and got blown up on both lines? Unacceptable and devastating.

After the A&M game most fans were saying "yeah our offense needs some major improvement but at least we're strong, physical, and can dominate the LOS the rest of the season against the ACC." We also showed up and competed until the very end It was something to indicate progress and recognize Mario's commitment to the trenches and the mental side of the game.

The loss to MTSU threw all that out the window.

There's a difference with being patient after a few closes losses to ACC opponents vs a blowout loss to MTSU.

- Saint Schnelly lost to FAMU....went on to Natty
- His Most Holy Coiffed One lost 5 games Y1....went on to Natty
- Butch DAW GAWD had losing season...went on to Natty
Prime Butch wouldn't be able to recruit in 2022. All of the South Florida receivers would still go elsewhere, and every defensive lineman would still be going to Texas A&M.

I'm not going to crucify a coach who does not have his guys in yet and was handed down the remains of a guy who most people agreed should not have ever sniffed a P5 HC job. What I will do is criticize his decision making thus far in his tenure and acknowledge his on field coaching has left a lot to be desired. Am I sitting here saying Mario aint it already? Absolutely not, but am I saying he needs to make same changes swiftly and not let his ego get in the way of making the team better? Absolutely yes.

Only two ways this will go...either the path of the last 15 yrs or so...or the path of JJ/Butch etc.

Year 1 is a free year, I've come to realize. Undisciplined kids used to doing what they want will ultimately quit on a coach that's pushing them too hard and demanding their maximum buy-in and effort....so even if we regress or tie last year's W/L, I'm not concerned. Year 2 is where I expect the 9-3 season and Year 3 is where Mario should have us annually competing for ACC titles (if we're still in the ACC by then).

On one hand it’s not fair to hold the last 15+ years against Mario and his staff

He had nothing to do with it

But he’s paid like an elite head coach even though he’s never been one and he just got dragged by a G5 school

If I hear the word “patience” again I’m going to throw up

This narrative is ridiculous. Really can't admit that maybe TVD was overhyped and the fact that Rambo and Harley are gone is exposing him? Really gonna run with that dumb Oregon narrative of "ruining quarterbacks" when Miami has receivers that can't get open against aTm's third-string secondary and TVD is staring down receivers? Not to mention all the stories coming out about him being in his own head, not having any dynamic with his revivers, etc. That hard for this fan base to admit they might've bought fool's gold from a kid who just aired it out a ton against average teams when the Canes were 2-4 on the season and had nothing to play for, or lose?

I'm not running with the "ruining quarterbacks" narrative.

Herbert was still drafted #6 overall so I hate that narrative.

First off, Mario himself called TVD the best QB in the country. Now I know that was new coach hype. But everybody in America had very high expectations from TVD.

But Mario is absolutely not doing TVD any favors. If he could look like a star in a gimmicky offense, I don't care. Why not keep running that "gimmicky" offense until you get your guys and systems in place? Why this wholesale complex offensive system change without knowing what you're going to get when we all know TVD could thrive in a different system?

He blundered with TVD and this offense. At best he did not play to TVDs strengths and at worst he absolutely ruined a first round QB. Neither is very confidence inspiring and definitely doesn't promote "patience".

You throw TVD under the bus all you want but this TVD we're seeing this year is not the same one we saw last year.

Like most things, it's probably a bit of both. TVD may have been slightly overrated but Mario also is not giving him a friendly system for him to run to maximize his potential and our offense.

I hope you know more about fornicating than you do about Butch Davis.

Otherwise - you a eunich!

OUCH!
It's an unknowable on Butch, but let me ask this. Were Butch's recruiting powers so great that he could get a 5 star defensive lineman to turn down $5M from the Aggies to come to Miami? Maybe on offense if he ran a spread he could negate the receiver issue, but in an NIL world can Butch Davis at the peak of his powers make a dent in A&M's recruiting on defense? Or does Prime Butch come with $50M in petty cash to spread around to his recruits?

2022 is a different world to 1999.
