I'm assuming he's eligible for a medical redshirt. He probably wants to be 3 and done regardless. But if it were me, I wouldn't want to play in a meaningless bowl game to take that extra year off the table.

Playing in 1 game won't take an extra year away. Can play in 4 games and keep his redshirt.

He is healed and ready to play. I'd rather his first game be now, and start the process of him getting his confidence back in his knee in this bowl game. Then immediately after he has the offseason to build off that.

Not really a like dislike thing. Certainly seems weird at this junction for a 12-12 coach. Most coaches have some sort of roster nepotism.
