Treon Harris’ lawyer releases statement of incident
RICHARD JOHNSON, Alligator Staff Writer | Updated 2 days ago

UPDATE: The*female student who accused Treon Harris of sexual battery has withdrawn her complaint, Harris' lawyer Huntley Johnson confirmed Friday.

In a three-page statement released Thursday morning, Treon Harris’ Gainesville-based attorney Huntley Johnson aimed to clarify details surrounding his client’s sexual battery investigation, as well as give his client’s side of the story backed by witness testimony.

Johnson confirmed that Harris is on interim University suspension and had to appeal in order to be able to take his online classes.

He is not allowed on campus at this time.

Part of Johnson’s claim is to dispel the idea that the alleged victim did not know Harris prior to the night of Oct. 5.

"Our client and the alleged victim knew each other to the extent that they had each other’s cellphone numbers and had previously spent time together of their own accord for the purpose of socializing together," the statement reads.

The statement also refutes earlier information told to the Alligator by a source that the alleged interaction took place in Harris’ room. Johnson said in the statement that Harris had never been inside the alleged victim’s room.

According to the statement, the alleged victim initiated things by sending Harris text messages while he was still in the locker room in Knoxville, Tennessee, following Florida’s 10-9 victory. When the team arrived in Gainesville, the contact continued between the two.

Per the statement, a third individual gave police testimony that he had *** with the alleged victim less than an hour before alleged sexual conduct with the client took place, that the alleged victim was actually the aggressor in that interaction and the investigation produced no evidence that the alleged victim was impaired.

The statement said Harris’ camp has provided police with six witnesses including multiple that say Harris and the alleged victim were smiling and holding hands when they returned to the Spring Residential Complex. They were dropped off by another female student who is the alleged victim’s friend.

"We have previously indicated that we do not believe that Mr. Harris will be arrested or prosecuted," the statement said. "That is because of our experience and the facts of this case. He is not guilty of a crime and he did not mistreat this young lady in any way that night."

You guys have got to be kidding me. Just because she withdrew the complaint doesn't mean it didn't happen. None of us know if she was, or wasn't raped. And I agree that too often people get accused of rape and are prematurely found guilty, without getting a chance to defend themselves. But just because you read Treon's Lawyers comments (whose job is supposed to defend his client) doesn't really mean much.
He definitely should have been suspended if it they didn't know whether he did it or not. I mean look at what has been going on lately, with the Winston case picking back up, the whole NFL abusing women stuff. This is college, and If any other student was accused of rape, he/she would definitely be suspended, except you wouldn't have the athletic department trying to help him/her.
Maybe some of you need to stop rushing to conclusion that he is or isn't guilty, and that she is just a "cleat chaser" who deserves to be in prison.

OK, with no charges pressed against accuser, I think there was a money change to get her to drop case. If she truly dropped case with no money, charges would have been pressed against her.

Just withdraw your complaint and go about your business

You moron, she's the one who withdrew her statement after the lawyer started digging around. Use common sense. What do you think that means? It means it was bull****. She made a false rape accusation, and the reason that's so dangerous is because of people like you--who ignore the facts of the case and still like to pretend that he might be a rapist. She should go to prison.

No, I'm not the moron. You are definitely the moron if you think just because someone withdrew the complaint it automatically means she's lying and deserves to go to prison. If it turns out they never even had *** than sure she should go to jail for maybe like 30 days...but not ******* prison. Like I said, just because you withdraw a complaint doesn't mean she should go to prison. Maybe it means she knows she would never win (because she can't neccessarily prove it was rape NOT because it didn't actually happen), and didn't want to have to go through trial being questioned by a lawyer and having everyone question your character and make you relive the trauma you went through.
And I never said I thought he did or didn't do it. All I'm saying is a lot of you guys went from calling Treon a piece of **** (Before he got the chance to defend himself) to calling this girl a **** and deserving to be in prison. If she just randomly goes around accusing a guy of rape, she deserves to go to Jail, but if they actually ended up having ***, who's to say she's just making everything up, and didn't at one point try to leave? Basically people saying things like the guy above me, ****es me off.

Stop it. She was fine with making the accusation until Treon's lawyer had some facts that weren't good for her, then she mysteriously drops it. Falsely accusing somebody of a crime that can land them in prison for decades means you should go to prison. And having *** is legal, moron. And I never called Treon a piece of garbage, so I'm not sure who you're talking to.

Some mealy mouthed worms in here. She falsely accused him. She fcked him up forever with that. She needs to be prosecuted. Some of you younger dudes need to get your testosterone levels checked because you act like girls.

I hope Harris didn't put his mouth on that sewer. Bytch was a Petri dish with all that different seed floating around in her.

If it turns out she filed a false report accusing an innocent man of rape, she should only go to prison for 30 days? Based on what? That's intending to destroy a mans reputation, livelihood, and freedom for no reason. She should face the same potential prison time as he would have had he raped her. That's an awful thing to do and if you think anything otherwise, you're a ******* ******.
