Trayone Gray

According to the Urban Dictionary:

slide
A)In Miami Fl usually means to be at attendence at a party or other event.

Thanks for that "urban" definition. I'm from NYC, so I'm actually very urban, I'm just insufficiently ghetto. I don't think Tracy Howard is ghetto either, so he must be bilingual. The problem with this dialect is that sliding has different definitions in standard English that make the statement confusing. For example,

slide |slīd|
verb
change gradually to a worse condition or lower level: the country faces the prospect of sliding from recession into slump.

So, Tracy was asking when Gray will end up "sliding" down to prep school from UM or reclassifying to 2015 from 2014.

I guess I would be more current with slang if I had grandkids, but it's very frustrating sometimes.

Derrick Griffin.

Maybe he is Devin Hester? A guy who did every thing he could to become a cane. Hester went prep and came back I believe. Maybe Gray avoids that. Griffin didn't get a score and didn't last a semester at prep. Decided to go to Texas Southern. They aren't similar. We certainly didn't get actual reports of Griffin fighting and clawing to get in.

Believe me, I hope you're right as I think Gray is one of the top 5 players we signed last cycle. It's just that these things rarely go our way and the longer this drags our the smaller the chance he gets in. I'll say this, if he really has the test scores then he has a much better chance of getting in. It's usually the test scores that hold these guys back.

Actually we have a pretty good record with these kids. Lamar Miller and Stacey Coly come to mind. Don't forget Frank Gore. A couple of the Northwester six from 08 had to buckle up also. We have had our challenges in recent years but I think coach just throws it against the wall with a couple a year and hopes that a few will stick.

@smillerdegnan: What FR signees haven't arrived at #UM #Canes yet? Trayone Gray (ath) & WR Darrell Langham. @GoldenAl says he expects both.

The Playbook would probably be a distraction. I would have him strictly concentrating on this class, otherwise forget about the Playbook unless it's Hargraves.

What's a little more troubling to me than the one credit that he is short, is the fact that the article also says that he has not looked at the playbook yet.

I'm assuming that he has had a few weeks? months? to get into the playbook and try to get it down.

A college playbook is a big learning curve for many young players.

Gray coming in late, coupled with not having a chance to study the playbook yet leads me to believe that this kid really needs to redshirt this year.

Gray could be one of those guys that picks up new information quickly but I just don't see how he is going to be ready by Louisville.
