Trav's post-Spring position by position breakdown

Mensah wasn't a blue chip as a freshmen! He developed into one, why can't nickel, coleman, anderson, and Abrams do the same?
This is why @DMoney and many others (myself included) have been saying just portal a QB

Teams have been breaking the bank for high school QBs 5 stars only to watch them bail immediately if they don’t play right away. It’s basically luck right now if you can build an actual depth chart

If OSU had gone for a portal QB last year Sayin would have walked. It’s just how it is.

People talking about developing QBs are full of ****

You're my guy @JHallCanes!...I've been busted by the joke police(you) plenty of times! But, even portal QBs get developed....

Exactly. You’re telling me Cam Ward didn’t get developed at Miami?

We recruited the position very poorly Mario’s first couple years. I think it’s trending in the right direction now though. We just had to show that we could improve a QBs draft stock

I'm with you! Did we develop ward? Or was it the offense and talent he had around him!!?

People make every excuse in the world to criticize Dawson

If a guy goes from a 3rd round NFL grade to the number 1 pick in the draft and you don’t credit the OC/QB staff then you are just refusing to acknowledge the facts

So we developed Cam Ward, but we can’t develop our current HS quarterbacks?

We provided Cam ward with a better offensive line

Buck Ortega just saw this list and is ****SSED that he wasn't mentioned as an elite backup to Dorsey, time spent at TE not withstanding.
Ortega was weird. He could throw in high school and then when he got to Miami the ball looked like a shot put coming out of his hand. I was friends with his sister and acctually spent one NYE at his house in the Keys. Nice family.

Cool story. I've heard good things about him/them. Having Sean Taylor on your high school squad helps a bit.
He was just the first random backup name I could think of from that era. If you still keep in touch, you can check with him as to whether or not he's actually ****ed at you.

I wonder if this unit of wide outs will block as good as last yr team when the time is called for.

I doubt this unit will be as good due to play style will be different from with beck. mario will of course stick with the theme of physicality, but the more you can utilize players different strengths, and what they show in practice ,just giving dawson and mensah more reasons to be unpredictable. Mensah attacking all levels of the defense.
With the depth that will work itself out. It'll be telling who gets the early snaps. For insatnce if you see Upshaw getting snaps over Vaughn (not that this will happen) then you know who's also blocking because they can both catch the ball. I think Dawson and KB make it clear you block or you don't play. I don't think CJ Daniels was an elite blocker at LSU but here he was mauling guys. Same with Key. They'll block.

haha nahh man I've lost touch with all those guys. ST and Buck were really close (both graduated same class from Gulliver) and sadly I knew about the horrific ST news before most. I coached against Buck when he was a 10th grade TE for Westminsiter Christian and he always looked like a TE prospect more than QB. #oldmantalk
