could you take a few early season losses with luke nickel and allow him to develop so we're not on the qb carrousel ... or we can't wait to develop gotta stay in win now mode

nd took this approach with carr

obviously we'd have to spend crazy to insure he has a top notch defense (lb) ... maybe invest in a lineman or two (seaton, from colorado if prime hang it up)

**changed the title as i'm speaking for or endorsing nickel, i am however intrigued by the idea of getting younger guy and developing vs one year rentals**

it’s year to year now for most positions. 1 year contracts.
1 year mercenary contracts for the top dogs and depth finds its way in between the cracks
Tipping Jim Carrey GIF

No. Especially if heavens forbid we miss the **** playoffs again… Mario has GOT to get into the playoffs to keep the momentum going….

I’d say one more year let nickel get another offseason and Coleman to get his feet wet so they can have a proper battle for ‘28

discussion ever. Who cares if our qb is portal or hs recruit as long as we win. No one felt our offense was lacking last yr because cam was a transfer.

tf ... cmon now ... ... it's a legit question ... i also never said they had to be a hs recruit ... get a portal guy that has multiple years of eligibility ... what i am saying is that with a shortened transfer window, you putting alot of emphasis on two weeks and from a player acquisition pov i'm sure it would be nice to know the qb position is covered for a few years

How good is Nickel?

Thats the ?

Mario bringing in portal QB’s tell me otherwise-

If we get Leavitt or some other guy-

I can see Anderson leaving-

Would Emory and Nickel stay? Idk

You have Coleman coming in as well-

Sure, the average Cane fan is known for their patience and willingness to let the QB catch on.......come on.

Actually, I think we're getting to the point (if we're not already there) where recruiting QBs out of high school is not the key position to recruit or to even recruit at all. Let them go to smaller P4 schools and the G6, get their games together, and move on to the big boys when they are ready.

I could live through a loss in the Fall if Nickel shows enough this Spring. I fully expect him to start at UM.

I also have not seen enough from Leavitt, Sellers or Bailey to convince me that they are progressing from where we are today if we bring one of them in.
