What did Lance say about the penn state guy, bc i think he is cheeks.

If he chose the PSU kid over Lantigua then there’s the reason the bullpen sucks.

Just saying
I mean from my read it's not a case of picking arms over another, more so getting as many into the room as possible. They've taken five arms so far and I expect more which Lantigua may or may not be part of.

This is a nice add. He has tended to run really high Batting Average on Balls in Play (BABIP) but his batted ball profile is quite strong.

Not many pulled fly balls, strong number of ground balls, and an acceptable line drive %.

While he's not a strike thrower, he's trended in the right direction every season:

16.5% to 12.7% to 10.1% this past season.

K% moving in the opposite direction 13.9% to 22.6% to 27.6%.

That results in a healthy 17.5% K%-BB% (which is the best shorthand we have for future ERA predictors, even slightly ahead of SIERA in my analysis). Combine that with a nice 3.20 SIERA and this is a strong arm. He could even start if they wanted to go that direction, though he's tended to be a four inning type when he does start, with a high of 5 2/3 IP and never cresting 100 pitches in an outing.

He is another arm that keeps the ball in the park and mostly on the ground. Allowing only 5 HR's on the season, but three came in one start. Only two wild pitches and two HBP on the season, this is a guy who makes you beat him.

I created a WAR model for college baseball and it has Mulcahy at 1.75 WAR. For reference, here is how the Miami pitchers fared:

Evans- 3.25 WAR
Ciscar- 2.40
Collera- 1.89
Glidewell- 1.13
Durso- 0.72
Bilka- 0.45
Santos-Olsen- 0.43
*****- 0.40
Dorn- 0.38
Coats- 0.33
Lofgren- 0.09
Peralta- 0.08
Robert- 0.04
Lodgek- 0.01
Drummond- -0.04
Fernandez- -0.04
Menendez- -0.08
DeRias- -0.56

Horwat was at 1.24 WAR in my model.

Should be an under 4 ERA ACC reliever announcing at some point
Swift from VT? Unless I’ve missed someone he’s the only one available.

That or someone with very few innings pitched or didn’t pitch at all in 2026.

Edit: Simmerson from Clemson also fits. Would be a major grab

Swift struck out 38 in 22 innings with a .163 BAA and a 3.63 ERA. 15 appearances 14 out of the bullpen.

He's a competitor. Trusts his stuff and gets a lot of ride that has hitters get under the ball. As a fly ball guy he runs a low BABIP, but will give up some bombs. Not a lot of stuff, but will compete and players bigger than you'd think of his stuff.

Swift was expected to throw but was out due to illness. He’s coming off a standout freshman campaign in which he had a 47-13 K-BB mark over 29 innings in which opponents hit just .230 against him. He added a cutter this offseason and his velocity has ticked up some, sitting 88-91 mph with a slider and changeup as well.

“He’s the definition of believing in your stuff and attacking hitters,” Willey noted. “The cutter is a good equalizer in his mix and he’s getting some more swing and miss. Last year, he had a ton of success and he’s enhanced his ****nal.”

The Southland Conf and east TX have produced some pretty good players who fly below the radar. It's where we nabbed Jackson Cleveland from. Let's hope there's something to this one.

Breaking ball with that pitch mix is likely far more effective out of the pen for 1 inning or even 2-3 versus being a starter.

I can see it translating and working out for us. Clunky delivery but good frame so there’s probably velo to find with the right technology and development (I know, I know)

Love breaking ball centric relievers in college. Hitters aren't as advanced, scouting reports aren't as robust, and hitters are trying to lift like crazy these days and hit the top of breaking balls into the ground a lot.

Can someone remind the staff that we lost a lot of fire power in the lineup. We need at least four mature bats from the portal.

Even bigger fan of pitchers that can elevate the breaking ball paired with the high fast ball.

So tough to hit

At the current rate, we’re going to roll out a roster consisting entirely of RHP.
