Definitely. The only rationale is he's only given up 7 home runs in 145 innings. But even that was almost exclusively against bad competition.

It really does confuse me how we aren't going after the A-10 pitcher of year, Mountain West, American, etc.

Getting a dude who has no interesting underlying data, poor performance, and mediocre stuff is fine if you're thinking "this is a ROOGY" but we recruit so many of these types.

I want all the transfers we bring in to be one of two things:

Elite arms or elite performers. Why else would a program like Miami take a transfer?

Have to tamper with other teams for elite talent, if not you settle for scraps

Those guys don’t want to come here. We have to go bargain shopping and hope we hit on another Evans. We have bad pitching development with a pitching coach manager. I don’t blame these guys.

He also has thrown out 0’s since 4/15 so he finished his season strong.
 
So, it sounds like we have to settle for "projects" or guys coming off TJ w questions marks. Problem is - how are we going to "fix" them when our coaches and players can't seem to even execute the fundamentals?

I'm amazed we haven't heard any rumblings about changes on the staff, etc. What's that definition of insanity: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".
 
Update on the portal class so far. I would love for @Lance Roffers to brake down why Horwat and Morningstar are rated so high on 64analytics. Here are some more stats on Horwat

I don't mind taking a plus athlete rubber arm who can handle multiple roles and show he can stay healthy. An arm who can go 25 times in a season is a reliable option for matchups etc.

Penn State lowered his arm slot, so he now has sink and run. That type isn't going to miss a lot of bats, but typically doesn't allow bombs, either. You see that in the data as Horwat only allowed one HR this past season (which is very valuable in today's guerilla ball era) and only seven in 145.67 IP. I think he's a reliever who matches up with right handed hitters and one of the keys for a reliever is to not give up a lot of HR's if they're going to be leverage guys.

They have lowered his arm angle and he's added muscle to get his velocity to 92-93 mph in short bursts.

Is this a reliever that gets you to Omaha on his own? No, he's not that guy.

That said, the average middle reliever ERA in D1 is 7.17 and the average overall ERA in D1 is 6.48 last I pulled it. He's probably an above average bridge reliever who can go three times a week if you need him to and match up in certain situations. There's some value in a reliable type like that.
