vince mcmahon bret hart screwed bret hart GIF by WWE
He absolutely did btw...

If whiny *** Brat Hart would've just did business when he was supposed to, they wouldn't have had to swerve him.

He just didn't understand that Vince saw where the business was going & was willingly letting him walk because he wasn't the A-side Superstar that he thought he was.

As soon as Brat left, WWE took off & made more money than it ever has in the history of its inception.

Yep... It was about the belt... Vince wasn't gonna let Brett walk with the belt... Had to dethrone him before he went to WCW...
Remember what Alundra Blayze /Madusa did??? No way Vince was letting that happen again...

It also had a lot to do with the business in general.

Vince saw how the company completely tanked when Brat was the lead Superstar from 94 - 96 after Hogan left. WWF lost the most money they ever had of the company history during that reign with him as THE guy. He couldn't draw dime & behind the scenes he was incredibly difficult to work with because he was spoiled, hence where the nickname came from.

He always claims that he refused to do the job because Shawn Michaels told him if it were the other way around that he wouldn't do business for him, which is definitely an ******* thing to say, but Shawn was just being a prick towards Bret because he knew that would get under his skin. Shawn throughout the history of his career never refused to do a job for anyone, he just liked to give Bret a hard time because he was a total mark for himself.

Bret no question is arguably one of the greatest technical wrestlers of All-time, he was just also a whiny baby who always felt like it was everybody else's fault for why his career turned out the way it did.

I always liked Brett as a wrestler but never understood what his gimmick was supposed to mean.... The sell just wasn't there but he made up for it with ability....
But like you said ability doesn't sell tickets in wrestling... Showmanship does....
Flair, Hogan ,Michaels , Austin , Dwayne.... All excelled at showmanship and butts were in the seats to watch....

Vince is a rapist and one of the worst humans to ever lace'em up in the world of business and was actively holding his own company back for a very long time. WWF - even at its height - was making cents on the potential dollar. You also missed the part that WWF was in dire straits financially BECAUSE of Vince, not because he didn't have any stars and not because Bret Hart just wasn't it. Shawn, Taker, Triple H, Austin, and The Rock were all there in 1997 WITH Bret. Bad retcon, brother.

The company made (and makes) more money than it ever has in the history of its inception without Vince around, too. Most people in the company are very happy that he's gone, including his own daughter (and for sure his own son, and for sure his own "ex" wife - two of which (wife and son-in-law) - voted to kick his *** out of the company before the sale because he continued to be an albatross on the company).

While Bret is a bit a **** and now really curmudgeon, he, by all accounts is a decent person and was a professional 99% of his career. Shawn, in his own words, was an absolute ****bag during that time.

Vince set up everything that’s making money right now. When he left, the company was very healthy. I agree he was past his prime and Triple H took it to a new, modern level. But it was an Urban Meyer/Ryan Day handoff.

As we learned from Tony Khan’s flameout, this stuff is hard. Vince is the best promoter of all-time, and there is no real #2.

Not a bad retcon at all.

Take a look at the ticket sales & PPV numbers when Bret was the lead guy after Hogan left, the company completely TANKED, that's a fact.

WWE took off as soon as Bret went to WCW. Why? Because he was out of the way & it allowed for The Rock, Stone Cold, Shawn, Hunter, Mankind & everyone else to flourish.

I never said Bret was a bad person, I said he was a spoiled Brat because he was, that's where the nickname came from. There's at least a dozen or so shoot interviews from guys who worked with Bret that attested to the fact that when they would work with him he would always try to go over. He always complained about having a belt around his waist & whenever there was a program that didn't put him over he would be difficult to deal with.

Of course Shawn was a ****, no one denies that. But to act as if that’s why Montreal happened is the actual retcon.

Montreal happened because Bret was being a Brat & didn't wanna put Shawn over on his way out of the door, because he didn't wanna lose in Canada. That's really all it boiled down to. He tried to dictate terms on his exit & that's not how the business works. When you're leaving a promotion, you do a job for the Babyface on your way out the door & Bret, was too into his own ego to just drop the strap to Shawn because Shawn messed with his head.

Shawn got into Bret's head because Bret was extremely wound tight & thought he was a real life Superhero of Calagry, so Shawn fuxked with him. Bret was a huge mark for himself & guys like Shawn loved to stir-sh×t with the marks.

All Bret had to do was take the Superkick & lay down, 1,2,3 in the ring & then go off to WCW where he was gonna be extremely well paid. But he just couldn't do it, he just couldn't get over himself enough to do the job, so they screwed him.

Has nothing to do with Triple H at all.

Nick Khan. And currently Dwayne Johnson.

Also, the modern look of the show is Lee Fittig. The former Gameday producer.

AEW's rights deal with WBD is valued roughly the same as RAW and is the second most successful, fiscally successful company in the history of the business in like 5 years.

Not a flame out.

The WWE hate has you reaching like Giant Gonzalez.

The booker, Triple H, has nothing to do with the current boom period? And Lee Fitting, a TV producer who didn’t even get there until 2024, deserves more credit?

As to the last point, it strikes me as ironic. When the WWE’s product was at its worst (2019), the only defense people had was that the company still made money. Now the AEW apologists are using the same excuse. The arenas are empty for a reason.
