Tracy Howard

The problem with Howard is that plays for a coach that doesn't adjust his scheme to fit his talent. He expects the kids to fit his scheme...well, that's stupid, b/c if u recruit a press corner who was one of the leaders in the nation for ints from the DB position, y would u force him to play into a scheme that doesn't fit his skill set? Don't recruit that type of player. Golden is a horrible talent evaluator for what he wants to run. AQM has not thrived here (No 3 WDE in the nation); Chick did not thrive here (No. 3 SDE in the nation); Bush has been inconsistent here (No. 7 S in the nation); McCord has not thrived here (No. 7 WDE in the nation); Chad has not thrived here thus far (No. 3 WDE in the nation); Howard has not thrived here (No. 1 DB in the nation); Hamilton has not thrived here (No. 7 DT in the nation). I mean, literally I can go on and on regarding regarding top rated defensive studs coming out of HS have failed and/or not lived up to the hype since coming to Miami under Golden's watch. Coincidence? Doubt it.

What scheme is best for Tracey Howard's talent? If he can't cover the white receivers from Boston College, FAU and Nebraska, what makes you believe he could cover Travis Rudolph or Ermon Lane or Scott from Clemson.

Because he Rivals said...

It looks like people are missing the point that you made. The Canes have a lot of highly sought after players on defense and hardly any of them have lived up to their potential, including Howard. I don't think you can point to only one issue. But the main problem is this coaching staff and their inability to coach up/improve their defensive talent; which includes using a defensive philosophy that does not take advantage of the skills that HS kids in Dade possess. NFL scouts who evaluated Chik said as much.

He shouldn't see the field imo. He's been a total disaster.

He broke a pass on Saturday - a sure interception by Carter. I would bench him.

Burns
Elder
Redwine
Jackson
Henley
Mayes

He also broke up a pass that fell into Bush stomach while he was laying on the ground...

Still waiting.

I'm gonna ask the same thing I ask every time this subject comes up...

HOW CAN A DC RUIN A CORNER'S CAREER? HOW CAN A DC MAKE A CORNER LOOK WORSE?

I didn't get an answer last time I asked this question so let's see what happens today.

And don't be general. "He puts him in a scheme that doesn't suit his press-man talents."

No.

Thank you sir...thank you for comprehending my point. If Howard was the only one struggling under this coaching staff, that's one thing...but EVERY highly sought out recruit is struggling or has struggled during this scheme?? That's not a coincidence

Here come Folden's vultures looking to scavenge the players. Howard is yet another 5 star to go missing in Folden's 5 star graveyard.

Howard looked like a blanket most of the game. Folden can't seem to figure out a way to generate a pass rush even with a DL full of monster talent.

We got pressure we just dont know how to tackle which is on the coaching staff

Don't look now but Burns got beat clean by Westerkamp on a long TD as well. It's not just Howard struggling, it's **** near everybody against the first team we faced with a pulse. Does not bode well when we play teams with more weapons....

BS. Howard got beaten on press coverage multiple times this year.

Homie, y r u even commenting? U know nothing about Cane football; all u know is how to defend To defend Golden and anything associated with Golden.

Noticed how u neglected to address not only Howard but every other stud I mentioned in my post. So take Howard out of the equation for a moment, slurp derp, explain why no other highly ranked recruit has lived up to the hype under Golden?

Whine all you want, but my statement about Howard, in this thread about Howard, is correct. For someone who pretends to know anything about football, you seem to miss the very obvious fact that Howard has been the most targeted, and burned, CB on our team whether playing press coverage (supposedly his strong point) or not. Against FAU, he was the "go to" corner for the QB to throw against, and his man or zone was typically wide open.

Who's whining? I asked u a specific question. I said let's take Howard out of the equation for a moment, why hasn't ANY of our top defensive recruits thrived in Golden's scheme and I'm still awaiting ur answer. See when someone ask u a str8 up question, u always deflect or hide. So answer the question Golden apologist?

You are whining about the criticisms of Howard, acting as if they are not fair and it must be Golden's fault. Yet while Howard is struggling to cover anyone, even when playing his "specialty" of press coverage, Corn Elder is playing like a star. AQM is doing well this year, especially after a year of not playing. Chad Thomas is playing well, McCord is playing well. Hamilton is his own worst enemy. Chick wasn't what some of you pretended he was, he just didn't translate to the higher level. Bush is doing well.

What does that tell you?

Every 4 or 5 star DB on this roster is struggling every game.

Howard
Burns
Carter
Crawford
Bush

They're all struggling in this scheme.

But you whine about the "scheme" being the problem, THAT'S supposedly why Howard is mediocre instead of a stud superstar. Except, when we do play in exactly the scheme that you and others claim is his specialty, guess what happens, he gets burned all the same. This has nothing to do with support for Golden or anyone else. Many of the Golden haters on here are pointing out the same exact thing:

1) Howard is mediocre and gets beaten frequently even when playing in his preferred scheme.

2) No defense is in press coverage at all times. If a CB can't play well in other coverage types, then there's a problem with that CB.

Don't look now but Burns got beat clean by Westerkamp on a long TD as well. It's not just Howard struggling, it's **** near everybody against the first team we faced with a pulse. Does not bode well when we play teams with more weapons....

Every CB gets burned at times. The problem is Howard has become the go-to target for opposing QBs. FAU didn't throw much, but when they did, they went after Howard continually, and had success against him continually, no matter if he was playing press or playing off the receiver. He played well the first part of the Nebraska game, but then go burned over and over again later.

Thomas is playing well? I'll be honest, I haven't noticed him at all, and perhaps that's due to the fact that he has 1 solo tackle (2 assists).

Stats are decieving on his part hes been disruptive all year, he had a good game against NEB

Never got how this kid was a 5* he was a receiver his sophomore or junior year of high school then jumps out to corner as a receiver? He might be worse and more overrated than Brandon Harris.

Tommy Armstrong is an awesome athlete as he made BALLERS like corn elder miss. There was pressure in his face most of the night but that's why he's a DUAL THREAT. Gunner Kiel is ****ed next Thursday night unless he has 5 future pro bowlers blocking for him. Corn is a baller, Artie baller, Deon baller, rayshawn was broke for a year still BALLER! Those miramar guys outside of Grace just don't got it. He only plays cause they still developing MJ and Red Redwine

So you didn't see Artie and Corn get beat huh? You also clearly didn't notice the coverage call in one of your pics! I don't want to assume bit from this post I'd be curious to know if you really understand the details of pass coverage and route combinations with regard to defensive formations.
