I feel like Fat Al had a lot of players get in trouble with the fuzz. Figueroa, Blue, Gabe Terry, Thomas Finnie to name a few.

Golden failed because he was a bad coach and a non-inspiring hire. he couldn’t overcome being a non-inspiring hire because he lacked the talent or skill as a coach to either out-coach and out recruit his circumstance. we would have been far better off if we’d kept Shannon for a year - who is and was a far better coach, and would have delivered a better recruiting by class.

I do agree that we would have had better recruiting class if we had kept Shannon, but Shannon is and was not a far better coach. Maybe slightly better. Some days, I think he may have been worse than Golden. We could debate all day who was better or worse between Shannon, Golden, and Diaz. I do think Golden was the worst out of all 3 and certainly the most non-inspiring hire and coach in the history of the program.

He was the only coach that never gave me hope. While Shannon and Diaz also sucked, they kind of gave me glimmer of hope that that might right the ship. Again, the key word is "glimmer", it's not like I thought Shannon and Diaz would lead us to a natty, but I thought they might make us consistently good or competitive. I never thought that with Golden, even during the 2013 season. Just seemed like we weren't that good, even though we had a winning season.

After going 3-1 in that tough stretch in 2009 I thought it would be at least a 10 win season and then take that next step in 2010.

you always remember those who got booted. Finnie was stealing laptops I think and Terry was on drugs or some **** and I think he was resisting arrest.

Yes, same here. There was lot of optimism for 2010, at least for me. Had a pretty good 2009 season. Came into 2010 returning several key players on both offense and defense and had signed a pretty solid recruiting class.

I thought for sure we were going to win 10+ in 2010. Tough loss to Ohio State in the 2nd game of the season. We won our next two games and came into that FSU game ranked #13. I had no doubt we were going to win that game and go on a run to finish the season. The only game that concerned me was VT at the end of the season. FSU beat the brakes off us and we never really looked that good the rest of the season. Such a disappointment, but I definitely thought we were a top team going into that season. Never had that feeling with a Golden coached team.

From a recruiting and talent acquisition standpoint, it is amazing how quickly Miami dropped off in the 2010 - 2011 period. Here are the blue chip players outgoing, and incoming:

It ultimately took until 2020 before we got just about back to the blue chip numbers that we had entering the 2010 season.

I was very optimistic when we started out 5-1 that year, but going into the Clemson game I read about how banged up we were. It turned out that we had minimal depth that season (and again in 2013). The Canes had only 72sh scholarship players that season. The quarterback depth was frightening.

Golden had no love for the U. Golden failed as a Miami head coach. Golden is currently failing as a NFL coach. Golden’s only success was the Temple teams where he was using partial qualifiers and guys who’d be at Michigan if not for grades to beat up on inferior talent.

Because Golden is a bad coach. who people want to pretend is good for mystery reasons. he failed cuz he isn’t a good coach, not because of the alignment of the stars and how the sun is shining off venus or whatever excuse they want to make for a guy who didn’t even want to be our coach.

Looking back with 2026 vision, it was a weird time. A Penn State guy leading us through tough ncaa sanctions amongst other things.

Yea I was never confident against Osu in 2010. Harris 4 picks even though a couple of them weren't on him didn't help. The FSU and Va Tech games were troubling. Virginia was a ****show in general with the yearly **** the bed against bad competition game. I'll always wonder if Harris doesn't get hurt or if Highsmith was healthy enough to go into the game what 2014 would have been like.

If you think about it Morris retains his redshirt in 2010 then he's a redshirt senior in 2014 and Kaaya redshirts. Then Kaaya takes over in 2015. Not blaming Kaaya for 2014 because he was thrown into the fire but with a healthy Morris, Miami wins at least 9 games. Then you start to wonder if Kaaya stays in 2017 as a redshirt junior, how would have that year ended?
