Tough and Physical

Who could disagree?

The one weakness: WR speed. I could see some elite DBs containing us simply because we can’t blow the doors off them. Now maybe Marian can land a few and change my mind.

The other concern would be quality depth. Lowe could have played a role by the cfp. 16 games is a ton of football. We need to get serious about blowing teams out to save starters reps and getting back ups more.

Ya as of right now, I'd say we are more of an efficient, balanced (With a chance to be very good or top ehhh 12 -18 offense) then we are an explosive offense (not to an extreme, not boring or 3 yards and cloud of a dust, just not overly explosive), but I may be wrong. Also maybe Lyle and Trader can change that.

Last year I said FSU's defense was good and people mocked it for some reason. They just lost a ton of games because their offense was historically bad.
Compared to their offense, their defense was the 85 Bears. They were statistically below average in a bunch of categories but considering their offense was absolutely putrid, they had to be on the field a lot last year.

Their defense was talented, but it wasn't good across the board. They had very good cover corners and very talented (but lazy and low-character) D-linemen. They showed up for a quarter in each big game and then shriveled up like a cold *******.

My biggest fear about the FSU game last year was that one of their loser, low character players would try to hurt Can on a dirty play.

I was convinced that would happen.

I know you feel the same way I do about Saban so I had to watch this. It's still nice to see Miami get recognition from him. He did also give FSU some big compliment in Ireland to start the season, game 1. Hopefully, we keep it up every week like his teams did.

Mario and Dawson are very much “take what the D gives” coaches and Beck is the same at QB. Thus reducing risks and ceilings of the offense. With that said, we will see more teams force Miami to win deep until we prove we can do that consistently. That means single high coverage with 10 underneath to help reduce the run game & short yardage pass game. I believe Beck has a couple big plays this week as USF has no pressure vs UF even with blitzing. Our WRs may not be a top 10 group in the country, they are good enough for our schedule. We will likely score less but hold most to less scores. Overall, we look like a much more complete team.

Good points...I'm talking just as much as from a personnel standpoint though

Ward more of a big play hunter…with a better deep ball, although I wouldn't short Beck in either regard.

But imo...

Arroyo
George
And even though not a speed back by any means, there is a little bit more of a big play chunk yardage aspect to Martinez game then there is with Fletcher and especially Brown's game. Even Horton who isn't as polished a WR and definitely not as good at making tough catches, fighting for the ball…The one advantage he probably has over Daniels is deep threat.

Were all capable of big plays that may not quite be there this year without Lyle and Trader (maybe eventually Pringle) in the lineup.

I mean we have 2 plays over 30 yards in 2 games and one of the opponents was Bethune Cookman. Even if you account for keeping it vanilla against BC, you still expect an RB or WR to house one or 2. This isn't really a complaint because there's a ton to like about the offense, just an observation that this is more of a success rate based than explosive type offense right now, although it still has a chance to be a very good one.

I’m concerned about the freshman wall with Toney especially since he’s still supposed to be in high school. Other WRs have to step up for sure
Agreed, but maybe those other receivers should look in the mirror, swallow hard and take their pride seriously and follow the lead of that 17 yr old kid. From what I heard he works hard, is in the film room, and practices like he plays. Competition the key component to success.as the season rolls forward I expect the WR to thrive on that competition and exceed their own expectations.🙌🏽

100% the 2024 had experience that helped them since Ward extended plays a ton. BUT that same approach led to a few bad endings which likely don’t happen with this years D. Marion, Daniels, and Toney are good. If they continue to improve the timing with Beck, plus Moore, Trader, Schott, Lofton, Gilbert, Lyle, Pringle…we maybe turn into a better offense than we have seen so far.

Agreed. We have some quick guys and dudes who know how to run routes but a healthy JoJo helps a ton and I would love to see ray ray see more time on the field with Toney some how. Ray Ray definitely looks like he has some juice we need to keep those safety’s backed off

So is Saban still the hypocrite, cheating ****** that we can’t stand to listen to or…

He good and what he said today bout us on point?

I’m just checking…

What does one have to do with the other?

Yes he’s a cheating lying sob and a **** good HC.

Of course it’s valid to feel a little excited that a HC that’s been there many times has good things to say about your team.

It can be both.

This is why when a small player gets hyped that weighs like 160 I don’t pay any mind as to why we ain’t offer. I don’t even care if they fast unless they like on some Roscoe type sh. Why get a Ryan Williams at bama when you can get Jeremiah who does the same thing at 6’3 225? The little guys get figured out or you beat them up physically as the year and film progresses.

Easy to adapt to a small player (small by average size of position) the big and explosive ones are the ones that win in the end. Saban is right there are weight classes for a reason
100%. Sfla people especially and just casual fans in general will tell you how much of a “dawg” the little guy is lol thats but in college and nfl there are gonna be players who are “dawgs” too but they will be just as skilled, just as fast, just as smart but they’re 6’3 instead of 5’8.
