Totally Meaningless Bowl Game Thread

Should absolutely decline it. I used to argue against this because of money. But it really is a waste of time, energy, and a chance of getting injured.

Just get to the portal, hs recruiting, and scheming for next year.

Sad to say because it was a cool tradition, but a going to bowl game is waste.
You’re not a player, you sat and watched while the team while staff and players have worked hard each and every day. Felt them enjoy a free trip with perks and get some more film if they need to get tot he next level or their next team

The players going to the next level aren't going to play.

The players transferring out aren't going to play.

The coaches would rather be recruiting and preparing for next year.

Spare me.

ESPN writes the narrative. They’ve wanted Bama vs. UGA since September and guess what? They’ve wanted ND since September and guess what? They hate Miami and guess what? I hope and pray Duke wins the ACCCG so that they have to put them in the playoffs with an 8-5 record. They’ll lose millions for that. 😏

Decline the bowl game. The kids proved what they're made of by beating the **** out of everyone we played to end the year. We gained nothing from the Rutgers and ISU bowl games.

We got hosed; at least let everybody on this team keep their dignity and not play in a bowl game in which the trophy is a freaking giant toaster.

We arent eliminated yet. I still think miami can sneak into the playoff.

The college football playoff comm will lose total credibility leaving miami out not to mention the acc should step in to make sure the acc doesnt get 0 teams in the playoff potentially.

In other words put miami in the acc title game as they are the highest ranked team in the acc. Otherwise the acc is a total joke and trash conference and should just shut down completely.

SMU just loss to Cal, Cal just loss to Stanford.

Duke has now qualified for the ACCCG over us. The ACC will only have 2 ranked teams, us & UVA, yet it’s us who r disqualified from the ACCCG. The committee will look at the totality of this **** conference & wonder how didn’t we at least qualify for the ACCCG.

They’ll look at our two losses to SMU & UL who are both sub 9 win teams that loss to a Cal team that just lost to a soon to be 4-8 Stanford team.

This isn’t a situation like OSU missing the B1GCG last yr; our only hope now is for Duke to cause mass hysteria & they decide to keep out the ACC Champion in favor of the highest ranked ACC team which will be us.

I’m giving u the honest, hard truth. We actually needed SMU to win today to boost our “good loss” argument.

Here’s all the 2 teams:
1. ND: #12 Miami, #3 A&M
2. Alabama: 5-7 FSU, #8 OU
3. OU: #7 Ole Miss, #16 UT
4. Utah: #5 TT, #11 BYU
5. Vandy: #10 Alabama, #16 UT
6. Miami: UL, & SMU
7. UVA: NCSt, & WF

*UVA is going to the ACCCG
*Bama is going to the SECCG
*BYU is going to the B13CG

These r the dilemmas; only Miami & UVA have two L’s vs. mediocre ACC teams, but only UVA is going to the ACCCG.

The committee has spat in our face this entire voting process, & now they have yet another excuse to dismiss us b/c one of our losses went from quality to a bad a loss. So now we need UVA to **** the bed so we can rep the ACC.

The problem with that scenario is that even if Duke wins and a second g5 team gets in over the ACC champ then you’d still need to find someone to have us frog leap over in the current field.

And unfortunately they’re not going to frog leap us over nd/ou/al. Do I think we have a reasonable case over all those teams given the results? - yes, but the committee has made it clear where we stand in their eyes.

You're right, and it's sickening to me.

Outside of USC, ND's schedule was a cakewalk; if they play the same way they did against BC against a team like SMU or UL, they lose.

Hopefully the only positive is we get a head start in the portal
Yep and hopefully Mario and Dawson understand ****ing around with interior teams gets you beat especially with these ACC refs.

Feel sorry for Bain, Messi, Cici etc…likely played their last game.

Man looking back at the two losses…lots of what ifs.

All correct.

But, frankly, by the time SMU lost, we'd been eliminated.

And the ACC will desperately try to save face by giving every call to Virginia in that game.

Of course, that won't work either, because Virginia will faceplant in the CFP.

Then the offseason narrative will be the ACC sucks. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Maybe the ACC will change the tiebreaker system. But who the **** cares, as it won't end up benefitting us.

are there any bowl games in California? one of those hopefully so they can go talk to JKS with a blank check and come back with him.

No one on this roster or staff wants a California bowel game...which may lead to the threshold of opt outs we need to avoid said misery.

What ****es me off r 3 things:

1. Notre Dame’s preferential treatment. These mutha fckas haven’t won a Nat’l Championship since 1977 (& no, I will not acknowledge their cheating 1988 Title)

2. Our inability to win this dumb *** conference. Every year since 2004 we’ve found a way to trick off winning this stupid ****

3. The ACC’s lack of a backbone. Being comfortable as the $2 hoe of The P4 conferences sickens me. I’m not sure when the Big 12 has superseded us, but word is if BYU wins, the Big 12 will send 2 teams. Like if this conference is not going to help our perception, then y stay? What do we have to gain from being in it, seriously?

We have to share some blame in some ways, but I will not & cannot let go of my 1st gripe. Oh, one other gripe:

4. WHY IN THE FCK DID IT TAKE US 3/4 OF THE SEASON TO FINALLY “LET IT RIP?” Why did we continue to put ourselves in perilous situations in 5 of our first 8 games b4 flipping the switch to just dominate? Now it looks like we’re putting lipstick on the pig to change the committees mind.

Anyways, it is what it is. Holding out for the slimmest of hopes, but even if we don’t make it in the CFP, I want us to boycott a bowl game & go scorched earth so every media outlet ? the CFP committee’s decision choosing ND over us.

Fully agree

They just need to make the tie breaker be the highest ranked team in the AP/CFP

Problem solved. Will help the conference in the long run having the better team be ahead and make it to Charlotte
