Lol @ the people who said Bama wasn't going to be **** these next few years. They're going to annihilate the recruiting trail.

what the **** have they been doing before?

They still will get handle once to twice a year by a spread uptempo ofence...hence the "sec" tryna come up with some rule for quick snaps...their B*tching.

Auburn is on their head now...their in trouble with Malzahn back there..and auburn is still recruiting good....Lsu is bama-lite imo...why the **** cant they recruit good qbs?..and on o they play right into Bama's hand every year with their ball control o.

Their's chincks in that bama armour..ol Saban getting scared..i can tell by these hires....they dont even seem to fit his approach with these two guys....dont see them two as YES men types that Saban needs

Agree with this 100%. And I will say upfront that Saban is one of the greatest college coaches ever.

But he is very worried right now and with good reason. The gradual move away from pro style ground and pound offenses to spread/hurry up-no huddle is a significant threat to his defensive style. Don't believe me? Who was one of the biggest proponents for the terrible 10 second snap rule? Saban of course.

Malzhan is in his head and Saban has started panicking just a bit. Hiring Kiffin and now Tosh reeks of desperation. The game is changing and Saban isn't handling it well so far.

Alabama will still be a great program because they have easy scheduling and can out talent most teams but I think the days of undefeated or one loss Alabama are over UNLESS Saban adjusts his defensive scheme. Until then, losses will come at the hands of hurry up no huddle spread teams.

That is how I see it. Saban's sun may be setting. LSU's is down already. Cycles move. Hate it as we do, the criminoles winning the NC is huge. It is a glimpse backward to a new dawn, a dawn that we can actually dance in again. If we forget everything after halftime in Tally, we were right there. We have a lot more talent coming in this year. I say we were a good QB away from scoring the first drive of second half and then it was new game. A lot of our staff is, unfortunately, getting on the job BIG D1 training and it shows. IF they get betting, then we can get back in the game. We land in the new playoffs once and baby watch out. That [[__]] has immense impact the second if has wins next to it. Not a player in the world would not have wanted to be part of those old teams. I am as down about this year as anyone, but my God, IF we kick some rear, what a different world we would be in. The feather people cracked the SEC armor, maybe we can go in for the kill if one of our QBs blows up big.

This guy took Dline recruits from Miami when he was at Washington, god only knows what he can add to the Bama staff as Dir of Player Personnel, since Bama is big on getting kids on campus for a visit, to add another closer like this is masterful of Saban working through Lane Kiffen.

Tosh Lupoi linked to Alabama opening
Posted by Adam Jude
Rumblings out of Alabama are that former Washington assistant coach Tosh Lupoi could be the Tide’s next director of player personnel.

Lupoi, UW’s defensive line coach the past two seasons, was to join Steve Sarkisian‘s staff at USC in December until a local high school coach, when confronted by the Los Angeles Times, said that Lupoi had paid $4,500 for a UW recruit’s tutoring. Lupoi, through his Twitter account, denied the allegations.

The NCAA investigated the allegations for six weeks but*did not penalize Lupoi or UW.

After Chris Petersen‘s hiring, UW reassigned Lupoi within the department.*In January, Lupoi and UW agreed to a $300,000 “mutual separation” buyout of his contract, which ran through the 2014 season.

Lupoi left his alma mater, Cal, to join Sarkisian’s staff at UW in January 2012. He had a reputation as one of the Pac-12′s top recruiters, and his*salary of $350,000 last year made him one of the conference’s 10 highest-paid assistant coaches.

The reporters are mostly Twitter chatter and message board fodder at this point, so we’ll continue to monitor any developments.

Which DL recruits are you talking about? I honestly can't think of any.

It's a great move for Bama but I dont see it effecting us much.

You're right. I read a story a while back that Saban was very concerned about the future of his offense. He felt he needed to open it up and diversify, hence the Kiffin hire. One thing I learned from watching the NFL, is that things go in trends. A certain defense like the 3-4 became big in the late '70's, early '80's, until the Redskin power game destroyed it. Same thing happens to offensive innovations. It goes great for a few years, until somebody comes up with an innovation to counter it. If Bama runs ball control, it can get into trouble if it has to catch up. That was the secret to our victory in the '84 OB against Nebraska. Howard said in an interview "I'll be pleased as punch if we can force Nebraska to pass." We had to try to get ahead of Nebraska, and we did. Expect a big push by Bama to get more of the elite receivers from south Florida.

I have the same reaction to these two west coast hires. Completely different kind of mentality. Saban is all midwest and traditional. He's been able to play smashmouth and beat almost everybody. Now he's going to have to try to open it up like the west coast schools. The Kiffin thing is funny in a way--didn't Pat Haden fire him at the stadium and refuse him a ride back to campus on the team bus? Did the guy have cab fare? How did he get home? Suggests to me a lot of people might not like Kiffin. And he doesn't seem like an SEC guy, given his tenure at Tennessee.

Now, what's going to happen when the quarterback looks to the sideline to get an audible call and Kiffin, confused, by mistake yells back, "Surf's Up!"

The whole Bama offense will be befuddled and try to run a play, any play.
