It's better than what we have/had with Blake and Manny. But that's as low as the bar can get.

Having Gino as AD, Highsmith as Dir of Football Ops with Mario as HC seems like a dream.

How does that look in 4/5 years if it turns out Mario couldn't get it done? How does that evaluation take place and you have to fire a former Cane when you're Zo and Gino? Can you do it? And if you give Mario another year because he was a Cane, then there lies the problem.

One thing that I will say about Gino is that he has extremely high expectations for the program. On Sirius radio, he’s more negative on the program and the ACC than his Co-hosts. This will be a complete 180 from Blake James.
Then he should turn down the job and have them hire an experienced candidate. That’s what we all wish Manny did.

I’m not sure when Zo made a move to be an AD candidate of his own but I always felt like Gino as the face and fundraising with Zo over football would be a OK

Y’all always say the same thing and regurgitate it. We’ve never hired a football minded guy in this drought we've been in so that’s a difference. No one knows how well or bad torretta or zo would do in the role it just can’t be worse than Blake James who was **** near nothing..
We are absolutely not in a position to find out if he’s qualified or not. Go get a god**** established AD, it’s really not that hard.

But apparently it is. #TheSameMiami

I know we are probably being goofed on here, but for giggles, let me play with: "What if Toretta DID get the AD position?"

First off, they had Jurich and let him go because they looked at the body of evidence and decided (after much cajoling by the hiring firm) to not bring him in. They are doing interviews and trying to take this seriously and done in a professional manner.

If Toretta made it through those interviews and they offered him the job, knowing how much public scrutiny there would be on this decision, then I wouldn't scoff at the hiring immediately, and that approach goes with Nunez or anyone else we interview who gets offered.

As I've stated before, my primary concern is with the football team and its success. If Toretta got the job, I believe that football would receive the proper amount of attention and focus, as it should, and that's good enough for me.

Whoever is set to run the Athletics will obviously need to shepherd all sports at the school, but I really don't care that much about the other sports. Football is what I care about and I think Gino would make sure football at the U, returned to its rightful place in the top 5.

Now, if Zo is brought on to be the person who primarily takes care of football, that makes me even happier.

Look, I wanted Jurich, but since he's not in play and the Clemson dude looks like he's out of play, then my primary top 3 concerns are (in this order): 1. Football 2. Football 3. Football. As long as that sport is taken care of, and I think Gino would make sure of it, I have a good feeling that the other sports will be taken care of as well.

OT but how does someone with no experience come in from the NFL and start working as a Senior Financial Advisor and not just a regular advisor? lol

I thought the same. It raised my eyebrows.

But Gino was probably a top student in his class at UM & when he was done playing, he was still very marketable. I've seen college grads get Senior Development positions out of college paying 140k. They didn't give him that title based on experience, but rather potential.
