Top Head Coach Candidates

Neither are upstart coaches, they're young upcoming guys who have had great success at G5's but they proven themselves & are set to get P5 gigs at the end of the season.

This Mike Gundy dream of yours is understandable in a certain aspect, but the fact is he makes $5mill a year & has a $16.6 million dollar buyout, Miami ain't spending that kinda money & I honestly don't think he would ever leave Ok St. I get the Jimmy Johnson parallel, but I don't think it applies to Gundy, he's been coaching at Ok St practically all his adult life, outside of 4 years of his career, he's been at Ok St for 25 years as a coach & 4 years as a player, he literally grew up there, he's never leaving lol.

And while I do agree that a more established coach might have an immediate recruitng impact, but remember that's what we thought with Richt who had annual top 10 classes at UGA, but could only do that once at Miami. And a guy like Les Miles just got to Kansas & has an $11million dollar buyout, he ain't coming here.
Butch Davis... Stop it.

I get where you're coming from, but our best bet is to get a young Offensive minded HC who is cheap & will immediately turn around the offense.

Agree that IF Kansas insists on the full buyout, you might as well take that money and pay Urban Meyer instead. If Miami could get Miles at what we paid Temple for Diaz (4 mil) I think it's a steal.

Would try for Campbell, but doubt he'd leave for here. Top of my reasonable list would be Fickell, Candle, Norvell and Babers. Would honestly be willing to get weird and go triple with Monken because that's where I'm at now. I just want to get to a consistent 8-9 win team.

Fickell is another good one, I think he's more of a Midwest guy but he basically has the same cheap contract as Heupel & wouldn't be difficult to hire.

I'd even consider Seth Littrell at North Texas, I think he'd be an intriguing coach here with having a QB pipeline into TX, although he seems destined for the Big XII.

The downside to what you are saying is if they dont come in and have immediate success, then everyone is gonna turn and draw parallels with Al Golden. I think a 7 win season under Les Miles would probably be viewed differently by fans and recruits than it would be if it were Norvell. Also these guys without the name draw might not instill confidence in potential staff hires. I dont think you are wrong in your assumption of the type of hire that Miami would do, I am just arguing that the strategy itself is flawed in my opinion. I think we need another splash hire, with a splash staff just so people will take Miami seriously.

Matt Campbell also hasn’t lost by more than 14 in two years...and he lost by 14 once in that same timeframe.

By that logic Manny hasn't lost by more than 7.

Gotta be honest, I get an Al Golden-ish vibe from him and Dino Babers. My crystal balls are tingling and I see a lots of 9-10 win seasons and multiple losses in the ACC championship game.

I am at the point that I want the program burned down and started over. I want a new narrative besides "this guy has ties back to Lou Saban."

Its like getting divorced but you are only interested in dating someone who looks like your ex-wife. Enjoy the freedom. Explore the studio space.

Leach and Kiffin are like that hot chick who is crazy in the sack and crazy in the head. Cheap 3 year deal could be a fun ride or leave you with an STD. Could be worth the risk. If Leach promises to stay on his meds, have a good time.

Les Miles is kinda like a divorced older mom who got a bit worn down, took a break from the dating scene and suddenly shows back up with some rockin' new ****, a big ol' bubble booty, and says she's kept an eye on U for a few years and is ready to f#ck your brains out.

Also continuing my analogy- Manny Diaz is a crackwhore. Her pimp, Blake James, tricked you into marrying her. Better annul that **** quickly.
Icy Hot is not a toy

He was ****ed because Jose Mas had worked out a deal with the BOT on board. Flake made a move to hire this clown before Mario's agent was going to be contacted by him directly. Blake needs to be fired.
Conyo Mirabal. I know you're legit. That **** blows my mind. Everyone who says flake has to go first aren't bsing. Flake is the main tumour. F'd until that guy goes....

Well the difference with Norvell & Heupel is the Offense will be taken care of with them at the helm, so the only hire they would have to get right is the DC. Its inarguable fact they'll have the Offense playing at a high level, they just have pick the right DC.

Neither are in the same discussion as Folden because they've had more success at their programs than Folden had at Temple who had never won 10 games in a season in his career before coming to Miami.

The problem is we keep hiring Coaches who never get the Offense right, everybody is always worried about the Defense but even top teams with elite Defensive talent (Bama, Clemson, Oh St & LSU) have all came to the light & understood that you can't win without a high octane offense. Just look at LSU, they have had elite Defenses for decades but never won, as soon as they went & got Joe Brady their team elevated overnight into a powerhouse that has a real chance to dethrone Bama in the SEC.

I agree that a splash hire would invigorate the fanbase, but in all honesty what top level coach is dying to come to Miami lol? I feel if you give guys like Norvell or Heupel a pay bump in the $4-5million dollar range they'll come here & take what we got on Offense & have us running an uptempo Spread system that will utilize our talent put points on the board, we'll win 9-10 games annually & then local recruits will start to see us as a viable option to stay home, then by year 3 we'll be contending for the ACC.

I just believe we can kill 2 birds with one stone by getting a young offensive guru as HC here, because even if the Defense doesn't get to an elite level, you can figure that out in time, but when the Offense is dead like it's been here for decades it plagues the program & we can never get out of the graveyard.

If Richt would've just hired a Spread OC from day 1 we wouldn't be in this predicament now lol

He had Helfrich in his office and a 10th spot open. 🙃
