WE. *******.
Was going to make a separate thread but I figured I'd just put it in this one...
I've read multiple articles now from CBSSports, NY Post & Bleacher Report that have all talked about Rex Ryan being a candidate, so let me say this with the utmost passion in my soul FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT, NO F*CKIN WAY.
Rex was an abject failure as a Head Coach, I'm a Ravens fan & all Rex ever was in his career is a Defensive Coach, THATS IT. He never had the makings of a Varsity athlete (Uncle June voice), Ozzie Newsome & the Ravens organization saw firsthand what he was, he coached with the Ravens from 99-07 & when they fired Brian Billick after going 5-11 they interviewed him & STILL hired John Harbaugh over him. Harbaugh had no connection to the Ravens & was a longtime Special Teams coach with the Eagles, what does that tell you when a well run organization like the Ravens had 8 years of knowledge on Rex & said "No thanks, we're good!"
No disrespect to Jon Vilma, I know Rex was his guy but campaigning for Rex to the rest of the BOT is detrimental to actually turning this program around. Rex hasn't coached college in literally 20 YEARS & hasn't coached the pro's since 2015, he is NOT & should NOT be considered a viable option for Miami, under no circumstances whatsoever.
For anybody with influence, PLEASE for the love of God, tell the Money Men to hire a legit active coach who can recruit & hire good assistants around him to run a modern uptempo scheme. NO MORE FIRED BUM COACHES, EVERYBODY ELSES TRASH IS NOT OUR TREASURE. PLEASE STOP ******** UP MY BELOVED SCHOOL BY TRYING TO GET YOUR OUT OF WORK FRIENDS HIRED, ITS BEEN TOO LONG & WE'VE SUFFERED ENOUGH.
And this applies to Dirk Koetter, Greg Schiano & a bunch others that fit that description, just stop it already.

This article from Fansided has Dino Babers, Neal Brown, Mike Norvell, Seth Littrell & Jason Candle as their top 5.
That's more like it.
Who are your type 5 LCE? And what chance would any of the 5 have of being hired or their interest in the job?https://saturdayblitz.com/2018/12/3...lacements-for-mark-richt-as-football-coach/6/

As I had it when I first wrote this thread, Heupel, Norvell, Dino Babers, Neal Brown.Who are your type 5 LCE? And what chance would any of the 5 have of being hired or their interest in the job?
Thanks. I did read your initial post but was wondering if there may have been changes based on other developments since then. I've become acutely aware of your football knowledge and look for your posts for insight and opinion. As I had it when I first wrote this thread, Heupel, Norvell, Dino Babers, Neal Brown.
I had Ryan Day on this list but even back in November I wrote that we had no realistic shot with him & Oh St would keep him as the successor to Urby.
But to replace him, you could go with Matt Campbell although Idk how interested he is in coming down to Miami, he reminds of a Coach that would wait for a B1G job to open up, maybe Michigan if Harbaugh is forced out.
Seth Littrell is another hot name, great upcoming offensive innovator as well but he already turned down the K State job so that tells me he wants a nice job down in Texas, if Holgorsen stays with West Va I could see Houston going after him.
From what Stephen has said the top 2 guys are Cristobal & Manny, I'm not so sure about those 2 but I'm at the very least willing to see how it works. But that's solely contingent on who they would bring in as an OC & QB coach, those are the most important hires we make imo, we have to absolutely hit a homerun with the right Offensive play caller, we must run an uptempo Spread.
I prefer Heupel, Norvell or Babers the most overall though.

Agreed, I'm a big fan of Neal Brown, check the OP I've been on NB for a few months now.Neal Brown hasn't been mentioned enough. I guess he's not the sexiest name out there but he deserves an interview. He's only 38, innovative offensive minded coach. Has been really successful at Troy. 3-0 in bowl games and upset LSU. Makes less than a million at Troy so you can get him much cheaper than the other big names being thrown around like Mario, Dino, etc.
When I wrote the OP I even said Day wasn't an actual option back then because he was going to be the successor to Urban. I just included him in my original list because I felt he was going to be a great HC, but I never once thought we had a shot with him.The OP forgot to mention that Ryan Day (who isn’t an option anymore because he’s the permanent OSU HC) also served under Al Golden at Temple.
Yes, Golden has something of a coaching tree (Day, Rhule), although none of the guys served under him at Miami.
What is it with the retain diaz thing we can do much better
Matt Campbell is making $3.6mill at Iowa St with a $19.8mill buyout.Matt Campbell or fold the program.
If Carl Soffer was going to give 10 for Mario then Miami can add 10 and buy him out.Matt Campbell is making $3.6mill at Iowa St with a $19.8mill buyout.
Great coach, but no way Miami's BOT is coughing up that kinda money.
With the rumors Harbaugh may be on his way out trying to get back to the NFL, I would expect Michigan to go after Campbell.
Matt Campbell or fold the program.
Was gonna make separate thread but decided to just update my old one...
My top 2 HC candidates are still Josh Heupel & Mike Norvell, with Norvell being a little more out in front than Josh.
Mike is only making $2.6 mill with a $6.7 million dollar buyout & Heupel is making $2.3mill with a $4.8 million dollar buyout. Those are both very reasonable & doable buyouts for a program that isn't afraid to spend a lil money, that's actually super cheap for some very good coaches.
The point still stands, my reasoning for favoring the 2 of them last year was based on their high caliber offenses literally transforming teams. Both Norvell & Heupel are terrific college QB developers & had had multiple top 10 offenses during their tenures.
We would beat the teams we're heavily favored against because they would know how to utilize the talent we got, which would gives us some automatic W's & put us in a better position to win 10 games, which would make us more attractive to recruits. Would they beat the Clemson's or UF's of the world in year 1? Probably not. But you can bet money with Miami's talent they wouldn't be struggling vs CMU or 1-5 GTech teams & it wouldn't take them 3 years for them to turn the offense around.
Even know as it stands, Norvell has Brady White as top 20 passer in college football & has Kenny Gainwell as a top 10 rusher (Gainwell was a low rates 3-star coming out of HS) & that's following last year when he had Darrell Henderson as the #2 rusher in the nation. He's young (38) & a proven high level offensive guru (put together great Offenses at AZ St), he's 32-15 at Memphis & is set to have them with another 10 win season this year. He would do great here IMO & we're making a mistake not taking the chance to get him before he ends up at another P5 program.
Same with Heupel, he's an elite QB developer at the college level with QB's like Sam Bradford, Landry Jones, Trevor Knight, Drew Lock & McKenzie Milton on his resume, and even now currently has QB Dillion Gabriel as a top 12 passer in the nation as a True Freshman.
I like both & would like to see us get one of them before they both end up getting snatched up by a FSU or USC, or some other program that will spend the small amount to get them.
I know many of you want Mario Cristobal or Urban Meyer, neither of those are even realistic options IMO, Mario will 100% be getting an extension/pay raise in Oregon & has no real reason to leave Oregon to come to Miami. He has better financial support & much easier conference to win, plus the pick of the litter in West coast recruiting with USC & Washington both being down & on the decline. And Urby was making over $7mill at Oh St before he retired, in order for him to come out of retirement you're going to have to pay him Dabo/Saban money which is upwards of $9.5mill a year... Yall know **** well Miami ain't doing that.
I KNOW DIAZ IS NOT GETTING FIRED THIS YEAR. That's not the point of this post.
