Top 50 College Football Players of the Past 50 Years

If Sean Taylor doesn't fumble that interception against Ohio State, we most likely win that game. We win that game, and he makes plays like that, he makes lists like this. We can debate talent, athleticism, and other attributes, but his career at the U was not better than Ed Reed's (the lowest ranked safety on this list).

Reed anchored the back end of some of the most talented defenses of the modern era. He holds Miami records for interceptions (21), interception return yards (389) and return touchdowns (five). He also blocked four punts, had 288 tackles, forced four fumbles and defended 52 passes during his career. He had nine interceptions for the 2001 national champions, one of history’s greatest teams.

The list is trash. One Miami player while Miami has produced at several cfb and NFL hall of famers the last 30 years let alone 50.

Sean Taylor >>>>> Ed Reed

Taylor didn't fumble... another blown call. When he intercepted the ball and ran out he was the offensive player and in a tie up situation the tie always goes to the offensive player. That call was worse than the BS on sharp.

Hot take of the ******* century right here.

Bozworth , are you kidding? Canes made him eat his helment..Think some guys that were named NFL Player of the Year need to be on that list, as they were unblockable while playing for the Canes..Sapp-Kennedy-Lewis-Reed come to mind..

Not to take up for Bozo, but that 86 game, Bozworth racked up a ton of tackles that game. Go watch the film, dude put in work that day, he just happened to be stuck playing at OU, a one dimensional offensive team that couldn't do anything against one of the finest collections of defensive talent in the modern era. Boz was a bust at the NFL level, he was a known steroid user, but the dude was talented.

Bozworth was an unbelieveable college football player. He should have been in the top 10 IMO. He took over football games.

In my humble opinion, THE ONLY REASON that Sean Taylor's name is not on this list is because he only really played safety in college for 2 seasons. Some are on here comparing his overall career to that of Blades and Reed, which I would NEVER compare great canes to great canes, especially reed and taylor, but don't disrespect what Taylor did in his 2 years back there. There hasn't been a more feared safety at the collegiate level maybe ever. He not only had more range than everyone with his size and speed, but was the most physical player on the field, always the best athlete, and supreme ball skills. He broke Reed's single season interception mark. Reed and Blades were ballers but I could only imagine Taylors legacy on Canes football had he played 4 seasons.

Really tough to compare Reed and ST

- Reed played in way more games, basically 4 full seasons
- Reed was more productive from a pure numbers stand point (288 tackles, 21 INTs, 4 multi interception games)
- Reed was the undisputed leader of that team full of egos and future stars

- Taylor was one of the most physically dominate players I've ever seen
- Taylor could play receiver and also returned kicks with success
- Only really 2 years of production, but recorded 10 INTs in 2003
- Could take over a game

Can't believe these 2 monsters were on the same team at one point. It's truly amazing the talent that has come through this school in such a short time.

numbers numbers numbers stats stats more numbers stats stats stats blah blah blah

38-2 I don't think we'll ever see that W-L record from a college QB ever again.

These guys all probably pick Hilary in the election too

They Polly voted for trump since this omission of hurricane players is so glaring. It's pretty obvious Miami has produced better players than any other school the past 50 years. I'm willing to bet no school has produced more HOF, all Americans, 1stb Rd picks etc added all together except for maybe bich *** usc

Trump is much more like our beloved Canes so I doubt they voted for him. They upturned the establishment and scorned any sort of PC behavior. They talked trash and were proud of it. They were accused of every possible offense except losing. Besides, Trump is Cane fan. Everything else you said is gospel my friend. USC and Miami are in class by themselves. Small private schools in major cities. One more thing, they are the two school most hated by the NCAA. But they have huge alum base and big supporters and has been part of major conference forever while we rose to top as an independent. Plus, our kids did it all virtually on their own. That is why we are hated by liberals more than by the conservatives.

Lmao trump in no way, shape, form of fashion resembles anything related to Miami football are you ***** serious? Maybe some of these spoiled corn balls around here but not Miami football you must be out ya got dam mind.

Step back from politics and look with wide lens. Does not Trump have swag? Does not Trump tell the system to ***** itself? Does not Trump take on ALL bold enough to step in front of him? Does not Trump play the hardest in the 4th quarter? Does not Trump trash all that is PC? Does not Trump walk the the beat of his own drummer? Does not Trump flaunt his bling? Did Trump not win it all against all odds and against the entire establishment? Did not he win using leading edge methods? Did he not win doing it his way?

In what way is he not like our old Canes. They did not win BECAUSE a massive institution supported them or a massive conference backed them. They did not win because the media fawned over them and ignored all flaws or misstep? They did not win because they were next in line? Did they not win against all odds? Did they not beat the unbeatable foe? Did they not win flaunting everything and respecting nothing but themselves? Did they not win changing how college football was played?

Our Canes conquered college football as almost an act of will and determination without the help of even the administration of their own university because they refused to behave how they were told too. Trump took the presidency by storm in almost the same way. If you think he different because he was rich and many of our kids were poor, think harder. He was born to money; they were born with exceptional talent. He use his birthright in his world just like they used theirs --- work harder, kick everyone's rear, win it all and do it their way. Neither knelt and kissed the ring of anyone to ask permission. See the similarity of which I speak?
