Top 5 coaches who would come to Miami

Because he's a boss. At the end of the day, either you're a boss, or you ain't. Doesn't matter where you had your first job. Either you're a boss, or you ain't.

Agree 100%. That is why I would interview 7-8 and just see who wants to destroy college football, pick the biggest savage/boss and hopefully it works out.

I'd interview Herman, Stoops, Fuente, Morris, Montgomery, Pruitt, and a few others and try to get a feel for you has it. Its not an exact science obviously but we need to swing for the fences on this hire.

If we go "safe" on this hire I'll puke.

Really? I think many that I listed have been mentioned on the previous 10 pages of this topic. Gann and Hudspeth are two names I don't think anyone else has mentioned though so if that got your panties in a wad, then you may want to take up something else as this is a board to discuss all that is UM football. Good, bad, or indifferent.

561cane,

Please stop porsting. That list has so much garbage on it.

What is it with the Kiffin and Cristobal infatuation? When did these guys ever become good coaches? Honest question.

Who are your personal top 3 potential candidates? And do they coincide withb any names that may be floating around certain circles?

I like Pruitt and Herman. Stil need to dig deeper into some of these other names.

Butch Davis - Overrated Coach, great talent evaluator, old.
Tom Herman - Best choice, huge buyout at Houston and just got there. We should have hired him last year.
Rob Chudzinski - Perfect fit.

F*** a Top 5. The list should consist of two names: Tom Herman and Butch Davis.

The administration has caused Miami football to freefall from the most dominant, hated program in the country into a complete laughing stock. Open the checkbook, hire a savage, and return to prominence.

I don't think Butch is overrated. I don't think anyone thinks he is Bill Belicheck. I think people see that be is the perfect fit for many reasons.
1) He wants the job badly
2) He has coached here before twice and knows the program well.
3) He is an excellent recruiter
4) He is unmatched as a talent evaluator
5) He develops talent
6)His name resonates with the young talent that have seen the 30 for 30. We would have to turn away studs because so many would jump at the chance to play for him.
7) He knows how to hire a staff. He always has great assistants.
8) Over the years he has improved tremendously as a game day coach.
9) Hiring Butch Davis would electrify the fanbase.
10) On top of all it all however...He has something to prove. Bringing us back for the 2nd time would be career defining and would cement him as a UM legend.

This guy gets it. Butch is the perfect FIT for what UM needs and what it is willing to spend. He would have a Texas-sized chip on his shoulder and would apply all that energy to putting UM back where it belongs: on top of college football.

Do everything in your power to get chip Kelly. If he says no, Butch has to be your second call. After that I am down for any of the offensive guys listed earlier. Fuente or Herman. Then i would consider Chad Morris. To **** with all the UM candidates. I don't want any of them. **** no to mario, chud, schiano and crew.

Has anyone mentioned Pat Fitzgerald? There's no way in **** that he would leave NU for Miami, I can't believe I just typed that, but it's true. I would love to have that guy here. I don't care about his lack of ties to S. Florida or that his system may not be fan friendly, I like that he's produced in a major conference, competing with teams that he shouldn't and winning at a place that has historically not be a place for long term success. He's experienced and still very young and hungry. He'd be my choice after Butch.

I'm absolutely dumbfounded by the amount of Miami fans on social media whose reaction to seeing TCU thrashing Texas, 44-0, is "Strong would be a great fit at Miami."

It's clear that certain people aren't watching that game, aren't watching Houston vs. Tulsa to see an actual strong candidate (Herman), and are placing way too much stock in having watched Strong coach circles around an Al Golden-coached Miami team twice.
