Top 25 coaches CFB history

There was a three year stretch where Switzer's Sooners went 33-3. Too bad he had to play the Canes those three years...ha ha!

They were both disasters. People view Golden as worse because he was more recent, he wasn't an alum, and he had the ability to fool you into thinking he was a good coach. (Which made it seem all the worse once it was obvious he wasn't a good coach.)
I have to admit, I was one of those who was fooled early on with Golden.

An absolute insult to Eddie Robinson but an even bigger insult (as much as it pains me to say) to put Bowden so far back AND right next to freakin' Switzer.

Coker should have never been fired. Definitely not replaced by Randy Shambles. We can thank ..

I would have never thought of Coker being in the UM hall of fame. That one got me.

You must have been living under a rock about 18 months ago. There were a million threads debating if Larry Coker should have gotten into the Hall of Fame.

- head football coach. Check.
- University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame. Check.
- National Championship. Check.

and never being ranked as one of the best “Miami” coaches.

(Easy trick question)

Gotta be ol’ Don James. Got a share of the ‘91 title with U Dub (because he didn’t have to face Miami).

No Pete Carroll? He won 82% of his CFB games. Won a BCS NC, nearly another, and won an AP poll NC in the BCS era. USC was mediocre for nearly 20 years prior, and mostly mediocre since he left. Left CFB and won a SB in the NFL, and nearly a repeat.

You can apply the same logic to include or exclude Pete as you would Jimmy Johnson.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner. As you know, James actually played for The U.

It would have been a giveaway if I’d mentioned he’d also been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame - which would eliminate Coker and Schnellenberger (Erickson and Johnson are in CFHOF).

Why would he be in the UM Hall of Fame for his coaching accomplishments at another school? I mean, he wasn’t any kind of great player at Miami. I didn’t even know he played at Miami until just now.

Any list without Eddie Robinson, Jimmy Johnson & Bob Stoops is an invalid list.

Dennis Erickson deserves to be on the list as well, the man won 179 ball games, 2 National championships & 6 conference titles (3 Big East, 2 Pac-10's & a Big Sky).
I was thinking also, that a special combination coach should have been created for Howard, JJ,, and Dennis -- called to the pros while others stayed. The three in succession had created greater impack and NCs in shorter time than any. For me it was the players but we are talking coaches.

This is why our beloved Canes are a Top 5 program since the 80s.

Always fun to imagine what JJ would have accomplished at Miami had he not bolted for the NFL. Or least waited another 5-8 years. No doubt in my mind he would have won at least 2 NCs (the ones Dennis ‘won’), and likely 3rd.

gaytors have to be crying for the old visor wearing douche not being #1, let alone on the list. Lol

Hey, there would have been more years of JJ and Butch recruits on the team each year. It would have been unbelievable.
