Reading between the lines, it seems like Manny did a really poor job of cultivating relationships with the local high schools. The yacht stunt and all that other bravado get old quick when the losses start piling up.

The difference between Mario and Manny is night and day. I don't remember where it was published but there was an article interviewing anonymous coaches, with one saying that if Mario got involved in a recruitment it probably wasn't going to end well for them. We're starting to see that come to fruition.

It's almost surreal that Shannon, Golden, and Manny all seemed to espouse an aloof "let them come to us" attitude with recruiting. Richt didn't, but he lost his fastball a bit.
