Took him longer than we liked, but Mario does have the makings of a good staff for 2023.

Not tryin to continue the mopery, but just being realistic with limited knowledge base and history.

2 Ws
6 Toss Ups
4 losses

I think realistically, we are a 6-6 7-5 team, given the roster.

I EXPECT we don't get blown out in more than 2 games., especially by one of the few Ws listed.

I EXPECT we do get blown out at least twice on the year - one mid-early, one late

I HOPE we keep potential blowouts to one between Clemson and FSU and don't just **** the bed vs. any other ACC

OL is promising but young - I think people are on serious OD of hopium with the OL THIS year.
LBs same - WHOLE DEFENSE is Low Mids as far I can really tell, minus KK
WRs straight mids at best, trash at worst, minus JR - who hasn't done that much anyways
RBs - upper mids behind a paper tiger OLine
QB - an Injury away with massive coaching for 11
TEs solid

Coaching is reason for cautious optimism bc it has to be.

ALL I want to see is GROWTH as a cohesive team LATER in the season, injuries notwithstanding and maybe even in spite of...

Am not up on the rest of the conference team statuses and expectations, but am definitely going to err on the side of assuming we are NOT "going to out talent them, BrO" for ANY opponent.

Not moping, just sober about it.

Hoping that my consistent mantra of COACHING MATTERS pays off to prove me deadly wrong on both sides of the ball.

I'm only hyped this year because last year was so atrocious it SHOULD be nice to see a better product on the field, even if it's, say 7-8 (tops) competitive wins and putting up points. I'm not drinking any 8-9 win guaranteed Kool aid.

Mario has a staff that Randy, Golden, Richt, Manny all could have achieved as well. Color me uninspired but hopeful.
Idk...Richt was alright with me. The man was sick, pretty much mentally retired from football and yet still had a 3 year run that included a 9 win season (1st bowl win in a decade) and a 10 win season (capturing our 1st ACC division title).

Had Richt come to Miami 5 years earlier we likely win a Natty with him as HC. His first two years had him on that type of trajectory.

That’s a fair take. I think most of us are in wait and see mode especially after last years debacle. Besides, spring practice is just the team and coaches getting to know each other for the most part. Fall practice is when the fun begins.
Idk. Spring practice gave signs that the offense and particularly the WRs performing in Gattis' offense were an issue. Then we all saw it live during the uninspiring Spring Game. The regular season matched exactly that.

If the offense is a better fit, which most indicators are that it will be, we should first hear about and then see for ourselves in the Spring Game.

Think about it, we heard about the Lashlee offense during spring and the Spring Game and Regular Season lived up to those reports. Same thing happened with Gattis last year. My hunch is that it will be the same with Dawson this year.

Liking the composition of this staff better than last year for sure. Good mix of recruiting chops and teachers out there. Some young hungry guys and some vets that have been around a bit. Most excited for the offensive scheme change. If we can even muster average, that will bring us up to around 28-29 points per game. that number would have won us two more games last year alone. Not to mention, I am expecting a more exciting and fundamentally sound defense this year.

Give me 7-8 wins with a marked improvement on offense and (dare I say) a bowl win and we'll be in great shape heading into year 3 of Mario.
I do as well. I can't help but shake the thought of how handicapped our D was last year. Imagine facing Gattis' pathetic O all week, then get to game time and face a REAL O. That had to suck. Practice is all about preparing for a game. How the **** was our D going to prepare for anything that resembled a real O while facing that middle school garbage all week in practice?

So yes, I think this year our staff will actually complement each other in practice. I think they will do a far better job of getting each other ready for what they will face on game day. If iron sharpens iron makes a team great, last season it was soggy milk sharpening a marshmallow.

Definitely in prove it mode now. At face value I like the new staff changes but I’ve liked other hires in the past that didn’t materialize into anything of substance so I’m cautiously optimistic. What I feel good about is our talent level is clearly rising and Mario is a way better evaluator than Manolo. The lack of key depth at certain spots scares me and having to play TAMU & Clemson makes our schedule a bit tougher than usual ACC slate. I said 6-6 regular season prediction. Prove me wrong Canes.

One thing that makes me wary of Mario is hearing people say he was “ wowed” in the interview process by Dawson and Beard. I think the interview process is a part of it but the hiring process of coaches should be pretty black and white. What do your numbers (stats, all conference players, NFL guys, etc) say and how is your recruiting? I really hope Mario made these decisions more on the numbers vs being “ wowed” by words.
To be fair, most people in Mario’s view are just barely above satisfactory, and more accurately described as “elite human beings”….so the interview process clearly has to be electric.

I agree about spring practice for the most part. System installs. Getting to know each other. Fall tweaks everything.

With Beard and JT filling the last major spots on the team, I feel good about the team going forward. We should be looking at 8 wins and possibly more with some lucky bounces for 2023. If these new guys work out and stay put, 2023 could be a really positive year like 1999 and 2024 could maybe get closer to resembling 2000.

Drinking the cool-aid again.... a little bit...
I’m optimistic right now. But, I’m wary of the Kool-aid.

8 or 9 wins is what I expect. Hopefully offense scheme changes make a few more wins. Schedule is harder than last year IMO which doesn't help

Last year a lot of people labeled the staff top 5 in the country. Forgive me if I'm going to give it a minute. That's no disrespect to the new coaches in town, just reality. They're all guys with a lot to prove at this level and they're getting that opportunity. I'm happy for them and will see what happens while leaving my opinion at the door.

Ill be super pumped if mario wins 7 games this year. 2 more wins than last season?.... yes please!!!

Basically a perfect post!

Actually he was fired because he had Randy Shannon’s resume and failed to prove he was any better. In fact, the guy so stupid to hire him was fired first.

TrumpyCane wants to know how stupid you have to be so say Temple is a tossup

They were horrific last year, they scored only 31 TDS all season
