Took him longer than we liked, but Mario does have the makings of a good staff for 2023.

With Beard and JT filling the last major spots on the team, I feel good about the team going forward. We should be looking at 8 wins and possibly more with some lucky bounces for 2023. If these new guys work out and stay put, 2023 could be a really positive year like 1999 and 2024 could maybe get closer to resembling 2000.

Drinking the cool-aid again.... a little bit...
If Tvd is used correctly with pass protection we should be in it for every game on this schedule

Look at last year and take Gattis out and put in a slightly above average Oc. Whoever you want. Just enough to score around 30-33 and give defenses a rest with some sustained drives.

Mtsu, A&M, Duke and UNc could all have been wins. And our other losses at least competitive.

If we just upgraded at bit with coaches and roster I think 8ish wins is fair. Maybe even 9 because once again we may be another year away from a big leap but the Acc still very average.

Why do you do this to yourself?

One thing that makes me wary of Mario is hearing people say he was “ wowed” in the interview process by Dawson and Beard. I think the interview process is a part of it but the hiring process of coaches should be pretty black and white. What do your numbers (stats, all conference players, NFL guys, etc) say and how is your recruiting? I really hope Mario made these decisions more on the numbers vs being “ wowed” by words.

Do I still have concerns with this coaching staff, absolutely. But there are a lot more positives this time around.

Still in wait and see mode, a good spring performance and portal WRs would go along way to help quell fears

I'm done with the kool aid. I drank way to much of it last year and I'm still sick to my stomach. I don't even know what to think about the new hires. What gives me pause is there's still one who shouldn't be here and imo had one of the most under performing units on the field. I'm not gonna mope and **** on the floor but put me in the skeptical category. Please show me some real progress this year.

We will win 9 games. I think it’s possible that we upset the Shoe Thieves at the Doak. TVD has a banner game for his Pro Day tape. Just a hunch. We beat everyone we’re supposed to beat, but lose a game or two to the Tobacco Road crowd. Clemson won’t run train on us, but Dabo will still show Mario that he’s still a couple of classes out from taking him on for the Championship. We lose by 10-14 at home, but we make it a game. We will show marked improvement now that the malingerers and the deadwood are being cleared out. We’re still going to get penalized for relying so much on freshmen for talent, no matter how good they are. But the team will begin to gel. I’m with others who say that Mario has to show that he’s had his 1997 moment and he fired who he needed to fire. Now can he produce on the field and have his 1999 team?
what year is it GIF

This exact thing has been said since 2005. Just ******* prove it. I doubt we win 9 games. Can we? Suuuure.

Will we? Most likely not. We also will most likely still get blown out by Clemson.

Wait and see during the fall, kinda hard to judge any new coaches being hired so close to spring practice
That’s a fair take. I think most of us are in wait and see mode especially after last years debacle. Besides, spring practice is just the team and coaches getting to know each other for the most part. Fall practice is when the fun begins.

We do this to ourselves every year lmao

Can we croot? Can we develop players? Can we put players in best positions to make plays? Can we develop excellent chemistry? Can we cut down on game day mistakes (coaches and players)? Can we learn how to make winning a habit?
TBD
In the meantime, go Canes!
