Too many issues to count

Gattis won’t be fired , hopefully someone takes a gamble on him for a head coaching job somewhere
He won’t be here regardless if it’s mutual parting or fired. Period. Mario knows what him returning would mean to recruiting and the current team. He’s done. In a perfect world he finds another gig to save the hit on his image and Miami not having to pay him the last couple years.

I argued this team was very flawed , lacked depth / talent and couldn’t have injuries. But I didn’t see this coming.
If not the worst this was one of the worst losses in Cane history. Some bad losses to much lesser teams over the years but this was to our rival at home. Only excuse for this is the team sucks. That includes coaches and players.

Man, we joined CIS the exact same day. hahahaha. Yesterday 11 years ago.

So Mario doesn't know how to pick a staff, is an atrocious game day coach, and dislikes modern spread offenses. Yeah he can recruit, but in the NIL era, that advantage is significantly watered down since bags always win.

Seems like the only hope for the future is if John Ruiz feels bad for strongarming UM into hiring Cristobal and increases his NIL offers to land the remaining elite targets and replace the bulk of the roster through the portal in the off season.

Bro, you don’t have to explain this to anyone who understands.

We have talent issues. We have injuries. But so does every other team not in the top 5 elite teams.

But but we’re slow. Texas A&M has some of the fastest guys in the country, but they suck for many of the same reasons we do.

We didn’t purge the malcontents well enough, but I wonder. Do the players have cause to reject some of the things the staff is doing? You could make a good argument they do. I know it’s best to put your head down, listen and focus, even in the face of adversity, but young guys mostly need to be taught and lead to that. The 10-80-10 rule is undefeated and we are failing against its principles.

There is too much deflecting and blaming in that locker room and the devastating thing is, the coaches are in on it. A house divided can’t stand and we look like the Bad News Bears of college football.

Mario has the personality to fix it. He seems like a genuine dude. But he has to learn from his mistakes. If we got a better fit at oc, this season would be completely different and the other issues wouldn’t be so pronounced.

The offense has no rhythm, no confidence, and no clue. Garcia is toast and we had to throw Jacurri to the wolves. That kid is special and we are running the risk of ruining him with ineptitude.

Let’s make a run at a proven guy. Mullen or some real up and comer. I keep hearing about the Riley guy at TCU.

Things are bad but we are not as bad as we look. Purge the distractions, portal up, and build these guys confidence through discipline and success. It’s not easy, but we have made it harder than it has to be.
Well said

I‘m not coming in here and wasting my time and yours posting the same ole drivel about breakdowns, pro’s & cons , who stood out and how I’m feeling as a fan. Nobody wants to read that and tbh I don’t feel like writing it. The game was what it was and so is the season. I’m over it all and I have no emotion about it either way. Nothing was shocking last night and that’s why it was easy for me to turn it off in the third quarter, as if I’ve been watching a bad movie. No anger , sadness or embarrassment. Just another horrible performance on a Saturday. Oh well.

This thread is more about the longterm health of the program and the countless issues staring it in the face . I’m going to make this short and sweet with no sugarcoating.

First and foremost this staff needs changes. Multiple coaches HAVE TO BE GONE!! If not the class will lose guys and current recruits will give Miami no shot. Program changing type recruits Including guys committed. That’s not opinion , that’s purely fact. Nobody wants to play for some of these coaches or their scheme.

We have of a staff of individuals instead of a staff. Coaches that care more about their ego, protecting their brand and moving up in coaching circles versus actually teaching and building relationships. Coaches that came here because they were butthurt at their other job, or had issues with their previous HC’s. When you have coaches leaking crap out or giving quotes throwing players under the bus to cover your own *** you lose the position room. Trust and respect go a long way in coaching and we lack that as a staff. This is far more than horrible coaching , it goes all the way down to recruiting. There’s only a few guys carrying the water and others that think just by showing up to the games everything is Gucci. “You‘ve been recruited , I’ve done my part“ lol.

Yes we have a bad culture , quitters on the roster and lack talent but the issues are much bigger than that. It’s much deeper. There’s toxicity every where and the on field product shows. Chemistry on a staff is just as important as chemistry with a locker room.
I'm glad you mention these things. I made a comment on if these coaches love Mario enough, they will point out his weakness in making adjustments. I realized that for the selfish reasons you pointed out, these coaches and everyone else in the building might the problem and not the solution. I hope the experience and comradery between Rad, Alonzo, and Mario recognize what needs to be done. It seems Mario was big-name hunting when searching for his coordinators and assistants, not realizing the importance of relationship dynamics. This happening in his 1st year at UM HC should be an eye-opener. If changes are made between now and the offseason, it tells us that our administration and culture are oblivious to failure, and it has become a cultural norm. Not to mention the highly prized recruits we would lose. Let's see how the cookie crumbles. Thanks for sharing.

He's been non-existent on the recruiting trail since the MTSU loss if I'm not mistaken.

I knew things where bad from a staff-to-staff perspective, but the recruiting bit (which is one of his claims to fame) is not something I expected to see...lol

What a season!

What makes you think that the portal will change much if anything? Let’s take a look at what we brought in this year in the portal.

Mesidor-Star, All ACC first team player

Jackson-Impactful player

Agude-Impactful player, was an all pac 12 player at UCLA

Lichtenstein-Hasn’t done much

Moultrie-Has done even less

Caleb Johnson-Can’t find his way onto the field, was a 2nd team all pac 12 player at UCLA

Daryl Porter-Was on all big 12 freshman team or fresh AA, barely sees the field

Parrish-good player, but is essentially doing what he was doing last year at Ole Miss playing in the best conference in CFB

Ladson-Is what he was at Clemson, this staff hasn’t gotten any more from him, maybe even less

Denis-Played for Cristobal and Mirabal at Oregon for 2 years, awful, would rather have kept Gaynor, at least Gaynor would have been gone after this year

Sagapolu-Also played for Cristobal and Mirabal for 2 years, awful, would rather have kept Gaynor, at least Gaynor would have been gone after this year

So you have 2 players who have seemingly progressed from the player we brought in (Mesidor and Jackson) 2 players who are giving you essentially what they gave their previous schools but are a year older (Agude and Parrish)

The other 7 have either regressed or had no business being brought in here.

Mario needs to fire Gattis now to at least show these recruits it’s not going to be status quo and change is coming….I said it before and I’ll say again “ if Mario can keep this class together with them watching this dumpster fire it will be the greatest recruiting job in the history of CFB”.

But I think holding this class together needs to start with at least Gattis being gone immediately to show talk of change isn’t just Mario blowing smoke to save the class but that he’s sees the problems and is going to fix them…

Or closer to many more losses. The games vs app st., nc state, Pitt, and G tech could have easily been losses. Your rationale goes both ways, dude.

Ah ha but but my MAIN point is that they were in POSITION to do so. Meaning we could expect to have a chance to win. THIS team had no shot last night, vs Duke, vs MTSU. Thats three games and counting vs non ranked less talented bad teams. Last year’s team CLEARLY looked better. Its not even close
